Sword lock-ups was never a thing outside Hollywood.
Otherwise i concur with alot of these ideas, save the acrobatic rolls. If you attempted those things in real life during a battle, that was essentially killing yourself.

I was thinking something similar to Battle for middle earth 2's way of constructing walls where they lock onto anchor points. I don't know how difficult it would be to reproduce, but personally i think it's one of the most intuitive ways of dealing with wall-building.
