If I download Kenshi now will any new updates act like patches rather than an entire redownload of the updated game? I only ask because my downloads are limited so I have to prioritise things.

Part of the reason for this, is there is a slight bug in which the window cuts off the last 2 maybe 3 weapon options I could make. I have this issue too. I agree with having materials assignable to containers. The micromanagement of steel, cloth, rum and bread every few minutes gets pretty tiresome.
