Ogre\SDL toolchain

Last time I checked, Kenshi used a rather old version of an OGRE. I wonder, are there any particular reasons for that? Is there a possibility of performance gain through upgrading the OGRE\SDL libraries used?

Is the Kenshi Zomboid-syndrome free?

Had to ask since it's the alpha-funding we are talking here :).

Are the game sources properly backed up in some external location so that the risks of losing development progress due to the hardware failure\computer loss are minimized?
