Req: Settings From Those That Don't Crash (As Often)

I searched and didn't find what I wanted so I'll ask your assistance.

I loved the idea of Kenshi when I heard about it a few months ago and this weekend I found out about the playable alpha, so jumped in. I've got 0.30.0 working for 10 to 15 minutes before a crash.

For those of you running any version in the .29 & greater who have it running stable what settings do you play it at? Please be as detailed as you can.

For some strange reason I'm having a hard time training myself to save often.

I've tried making the setting changes I've heard about like turning on Force Single Threaded, and even hardware mouse.

P.S. I'm running an AMD processor 955 black and a Radeon HD 6850 with the latest drivers. I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit but I've got the core and Kenshi executables set to XP SP3 compatability. I did have issues installing 0.30.0 (asked for 2nd disk, & canceled) and 0.29.6 wouldn't even start without crashing on my system.

All I've heard that Force Single Threaded on and Fancy Shaders off might help a little. But as you said, it is still alpha, so it still crashes once in a while, whatever you do.

Thanks, I'm not complaining about the game or about any crashing. Maybe the title should have been From Those That Don't Crash As Often. From reading in the forum I've seen people state that they crash every two minutes to that they seldom crash. Since there seems to be a wide range I was just trying to figure out some common settings for those that are least likely to crash. Part of my day job is troubleshooting computer hardware and software issues.

My own testing for stability seems to lean in the direction of the inital install. As of last night I found a 0.25.? install and after playing for over an hour it would only crash sometimes when saving or exiting the game.

My experience:

• 0.30.0 as a fresh install errored out asking for disk 2. After canceling it wouldn't save as the directories were not created. After adding the directories it saves fine but crashes every 10 to 15 minutes

• 0.29.6 wouldn't even play after the install, immediate crash.

• 0.25.? After an hour of playing it only has crashed after some saves, and the saves have loaded fine afterwards. It also freezes up when trying to exit the game so I have to use crl-alt-del and kill the app or process

I'll play around some more to see what I can find out, it might be useful to someone.

If I get inspired, I may look at comparing the files versions from the various inital installs after the updates as that might have some clues too.

Use Kenshi's auto-updater and get 0.30.1 for now.

It's not work for me. Updater from 0.29.7 don't want download anything. Version 0.3 don't install.
