First off, I understand that melee attack and melee defense experience gain is based off the oponents melee defense and melee attack. The question is, how about dexterity and weapon skills? are they based off an opponents stats? or are they calculated in a way that so long as you land a blow on an enemy, the corresponding attribute will increase at a set amount, regardless of your opponents dexterity/weapon skill stats?
Currently my main character has:
86 strength
83 dexterity
84 melee attack
94 melee defense
80 katana weapon skill
I'm noticing that experience gain rates are extremely slow at the moment, is it even possible to reach 100 in a stat?

Dexterity, Strength, and weapon skill grow based on how much you use them, much like the other skills.
Obviously, the more you use a weapon type, the better you get with that weapon, regardless of enemy stats.
In combat gains for strength and dexterity are also based on the weapon type. You gain very little dexterity, but a large amount of strength, for using a fragment axe. THe opposite is true for katanas. Running around with a heavy load is generally more common than combat, so that would probably be why your strength is slightly higher.
Yes, it is possible to have 100 in a skill. I have a 100 science character.
However, the higher your skill goes, the lower the gains you get from it. Chris stated that it's a % scale. With your 80 katana skill, you'll be getting 20% of the gains from when you were at 0.

May I ask how you increase it to that extent? I'm around 30-40 in all my stats and recently switched to a Heavy Weapon (Fragmented Axe) and I've been stuck around my stats for a while. What do you train against/how fast do you level? I usually bring my main character to solo Hungry Bandits/Dust Bandits/ or accompany him with my 2nd main and look for Sand Ninjas.Kurien wrote: Currently my main character has:

Should I change my weapon to something weaker and continue doing what I do or? I haven't raided any villages because I wanted to bring my character stats to around 50's before I continue. Would a Large Trader Backpack (-10 All Stats) help me in this?
