What exactly does the "haul" do?

I notice that you can "haul" some objects like barrels however it does not do anything it appears, I was hoping it would let me move interior structures but it appears not, am I missing something?

As far as I can tell it doesn't do anything yet. Best guess since it only appears on storage items it is for moving the resource to where its needed. (e.g. taking stones to the stone processor)
