Hello,

First off, I wanted to say i'm really looking forward to this game and what it is going to be like during final release. I hope that I can help with testing it out during such early stages.

That being said, I was wondering if editing the 'in game' values such as Money and stats were allowed using an external program like Cheat Engine. Editing these values would allow a character to progress more quickly without worrying about modding any important aspects of the game.

I don't want to get banned for using it when i'm simply trying to get my character upgraded to explore additional things more quickly.

Thanks,

Raventis

I've verified that it is possible to, at the very least, edit the value of Money using this method.

If this is allowed, it would save people quite a bit of time from having to use mods to get the same effect. I will also post the .ct file with the different values i find as I go.

This is not a multiplayer game, your data files do not need to match any server's or player's. The only way your files would be seen by other people is if you personally uploaded them. Even if it isn't "allowed" the only way you'd possibly get caught is if your changes somehow prevent the patcher from being able to properly patch the game.

What you're doing is more akin to save file hacking, which there are already a few guides for around the forums. I don't condone cheating, as I feel it detracts from the experience of the game, however since you are not modifying the actual game files (and the game is moddable anyway) I don't see how it could be a problem. Just don't expect tech support if you get weird bugs after doing so.

And of course, this is just my opinion, if Chris says otherwise, then its otherwise.

It is completely allowed. You aren't modifying or accessing the .exe so there is no breach of any laws or policies or....well anything. Good luck and if you manage to find out the code to modify the different stats feel free to post it up in here along with the money code for the rest of us to use.

I think developer's usual stance towards programs like CheatEngine is "Use it if you need to, but if your computer explodes it's not our fault"
