Hey guys new to the forums. I've enjoyed the game and I only have one problem. Whenever I build it's always connected to the nearest city instead of making it my own. Do I have to build really far away from a town in order to make it my own city ?

build your shack first.
any other building will connect it to the nearest town.
this is a known bug.
Do you believe the sexes should be equal?

Small shack? Sorry I searched the threads couldn't find an answer. And does shop counter work now? Again sorry for the dumb questions.

trading is still bugged.

hopefully to be fixed when the new pathing Engine is added soon.

I haven't played probably since like .5 something when traders first came out and where kinda working properly ish. O.o just started to play again and its like O.O damn traders lazy guys.

yea
traders have been working then broken a few times, so they haven't always been broke.
usually when they are fixed, the next content update breaks em again.
