View range/camera controls

Right now the view range seems to be practically unlimited, only stopping at load lines, while the camera cant be zoomed out very far. This means, to try to get a view far away you have to herpderp your camera into a low angled position so you can take advantage of the view range, but you probably arent supposed to be able to see that far.
Instead i suggest the camera be given a little more freedom to zoom out while limiting the range at which other characters appear, perhaps having a spotting skill.

Hi everyone !
Good idea.
I'd like to be able to see a town situated on a hill/mountain when I approach. As is currently, you can see the town from afar, but as you come close to it there is no camera angle/zoom that allows you to scope the town out.

My Kenshi avatar is going to be a very, very naughty little man.
I also apply for this request !
More zoom out to be able to have a better range of a battle or a whole city and neighborhood (do the city will be under attack soon ?) and a view over(only under and equal at the moment) the horizontal line, i love to be able to see the top of a mountain from the base of it...
Thanks

*ponders* Well, I guess a simple FOG would be a good thing and add certain items that increase range of view.
Perhaps a Fog would also lessen the load of the game which make one to have even bigger armies? as the computer wont have to load everything visible on the screen in detail...Or im possible talking gibberish right now
But I like the simple idea of FOG.

there is already fog.
letting the zoom go out too far has some technical problems associated with it, loading and performance.

When we start the game, we have many choices, set the far distance there could be an option, because i don't believe it's a good way to penalize great PC to get cheap one working well...
PS: I personally have i7 950 + SSD + Nvidia 470 + 18 Gb of RAM, you know what i mean !?

Strange question... At the moment the best is a 590, 470 is not that old/bad, when i buy my pc, 500 series wasn't released... 470 was great between the price of a 485 and the quality of a 410 !gusmil wrote:Personally I find it wierd ot hear you have only a nvidia 470 with those specsEric1212 wrote:When we start the game, we have many choices, set the far distance there could be an option, because i don't believe it's a good way to penalize great PC to get cheap one working well...

I see... Well I found it odd because you have I7 950 + 18 gb ram then suddely 460 nvidia but that explain why you have it, you bought it before 500 serie came out.
mabye time to update? =D as long your computer can support it. You atleast wont have to switch computer in 3-5 years if you upgrade your graph card in 1 year

hmm... well in a year it going to be new graph cards, it not like we gonna stop at 590
which also means the price will go down for the new/old graph cards. (new now, old in a year)
oh only 4gb ram? oh well you just need 6 gb tbh for anything today.
