Why perception is a main attribute?
As a main attribute, wouldn't it make sense that perception should affects more things beside just range combat? I mean strenght also help you carrying more stuff, toughness beside keeping you alive also help with martial damage, dexterity affect attack speed of ALL weapons including crossbow and cut damage and block speed while perception just feel like a glorified ranged skill. Outside of range combat it's utterly useless...

Perception as a main attribute is a fine idea. It just needs to be finished.
Perception should VERY slowly tick up just like any other stat,
When you see NPCs, animals, enemies
When you do thievery skills.
Perception should be used to counter stealing/sneaking/assassin checks
PERHAPS even a modifier for something like dodge.
~IE: Knowing where a blow will land, avoiding it because of perception.
just a quick 2 cents

TBH they're done with big stuff. Adding stealth to enemy NPCs and having perception count for it? sure that seems cool but there are things that NEED fixing before more stuff should be added (i can't even start the list because that would take too much time)
The point is that you don't have to max out your characters in every skill. Perception is used for ranged combat. if you don't use ranged combat then you don't need it. However if you want to use a crossbow or turrets then you would want to increase it and you wouldn't need to increase Strength or dexterity. Just like if you are using a small weapon you don't need to build strength. And if you are using a heavy weapon do don't need Dexterity. It means you can focus your training into certain areas to create different types of fighters. Each with different skills sets. Sure you can max them all out. But at lower levels is more effective to pick one and get good at it in a hurry. Then work on another one.
