When you look back just 15 years, a single game was normally 120$. That was normal back then. And mind you, I was a student back then (so I really spent all the money I had on games, nothing else).
I find it so weird, now that the industry is more established than back then, that people complain so much about game prices in general. Nowadays, I sometimes get an AAA title for 30$, so maybe people got used to it too much.
Now, I am maybe an extreme case, but I would still pay 120$ if a game is really good. So 10$ for a game with good potential is really a bargain for me. Most of these indies that have been mentioned are maybe cheaper in price, but lack in gameplay/graphics/depth. So the comparison is not given, in my opinion.
There are a few indie gems out there (I personally liked Terraria a lot), and I like to support these; even in alpha stage.

Mount and blade is the best example of this that I can think of off the top of my head.Pain wrote:Exactly my point.txfirefighter wrote:this gaem will eventually be 30+ dollars and then we will look back and be excited we bought it for 10.

that he should, but the problem is that not only is he going to note them but the hundreds of people who are viewing his game are still debating whether or not to buy it thinking that its a waste of $10. what this topic is supposed to be about is finding a better way to convince consumers to buy Kenshi so Chris gets more money so he can hire artists and programmers so more stuff gets added to Kenshi.
The game alone should convince people. Its damn awesome and is getting better and better.
Its funny how people will blow $200+ on an iphone 4 no problem when they already have an iphone 3. They will go to the pub and spend $50 - $200 in one night and not even remember half of it the next morning; but then they baulk at spending $10 on some software that is partially completed and still being worked on even though they will get all the upgrades and patches totally free.
Still, best thing is to recommend they play the demo, if they like it enough and the level limitation becomes boring because they can't fight the enemies without running like little girls back to the guards all the time then they will buy it. If they like to run away like little girls then they might stay and play the demo forever. To each, their own.

my thoughts exactly. they should buy this game on the promise its going to become even more amazing. so many gamers nag that they cant get into beta and have that 'upper hand' once its finalized, well here is their chance.Blxz wrote:The game alone should convince people.
