i think that threading shouldn't be done right now since there isn't any point, why would you need more than 1 group of people when you can't build something to defend and therefor create a group to guard the building then a group to patrol the building, right now there is only a point to creating a group of people (mabye 10-15 people) and to train them so that they can lead a group of people by himself (by this i mean able to hold against at least a sand ninja of dust bandit boss). getting 30 people to me is just to much since you have to armor them and then arm them, how much money do you think it would take to get 30 medium armors from rag co.

I think the main problem with multithreading is that if we CAN have huge armies, then EVERY NPC (and PC) has to be fully accounted for in their stats and inventory. If the RAM has to constantly be processing all this PLUS rendering PLUS AI, then I'm not sure even multithreading would be of much help... correct me if I'm wrong, but that seems to me like a lot of bytes.

I think the current high usage of processing power and memory is because of the pathfinding system which Chris has promised will be slain (With a coding priest to perform the exorcism no lesstoxiciron wrote:I think the main problem with multithreading is that if we CAN have huge armies, then EVERY NPC (and PC) has to be fully accounted for in their stats and inventory. And because this post will not help you or the discussion, I leave you with this:
You underestimate this game.

I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, LOL. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally excited for this game, and if a way is found to actually get big armies and such working, I may just explode of happiness. I don't know for certain though, I may be wrong and it really isn't all that hard, but I was just expressing my opinion about how it might be hard to do... so, you say I underestimate the game? Maybe the game just overestimates YOU!

I'm going to vote for having more stuff to do rather than whole armies to fight. I believe he said it'll take months to finish that and then by that time all we're going to be able to do is fight fight fight. Having a variety of different stuff to do will attract more people and keep them playing the game.
By the way, any change to implement females back in the game?

at the moment you can carry your wounded, and once he adds the foliage system he's going to work on sleeping in beds..then hopefully building your own base....correct me if i'm wrong but I believe that's what he's doing ^.^antoniothedeadly wrote:I'm going to vote for having more stuff to do rather than whole armies to fight. i agree with this. i know crafting is a long way off but other stuff to do in the mean time would be nice.
if he has the idea of adding new races/species then maybe a teaser item. such as a sword from a different area? like tri point hat and long british soldier type coat hints at something. maybe im way off though.

mabye later on you could give your officers education so that they could help and advise you when you are in trouble or need someone to govern a city in your absence (this would be more realistic since farmmers back then didn't usally have the abillity to help on the battle field or town)

Would love to see a combat system similair too that in Xcom Apocalipse, one where you can switch between Real Time and Turn Based combat.
Some situation's call for real time, other's turn based is better.
I only say this because you're looking to create mass battle's, a classic example of how hard it is to control lots of NPC's at once is Men Of War, things become to confusing trying to issue so many order's across lots of individual NPC's even with a pause button, throwing it into turn base and using some type of AP system helps to keep track of who's turn it is next otherwise it just gonna be a free for all with no real control over what happens on the field.
I read on the main page the creators thoughts on saving games i don't agree...
Massive games like this must have a save at will option or its doomed to fail, so please do not take away the ability save when i like, i can understand no saving being used for MMO's but not for single play games thats blasphemy.
Also i would like to see some different stance's such as crouching and prone or a stealth skill to sneak up on people.
Hunger! the need to eat food and a cooking skill would be nice once you get the day/nite cycle complete.

The idea behind it is that if you die, simply reloading ruins the experience and many players dont have the balls to withhold from doing that. Despite that, i think players should have their own saving options as shit happens and if a bug breaks something i would like to be able to reload, and people who really want to cheat can just use the save files. it would hardly be revolutionary though to prevent saving and its been done to good success in a number of other indie games, so it wouldnt be "blasphemy" or a gamebreaker for anyone.Blackrain wrote:I read on the main page the creators thoughts on saving games i don't agree...

If i was to cheat which i don't i would just hack the ini or cfg files i wouldn't bother fiddling with the save files.
Point being if someone is going to cheat they will find anyway to do it, reducing or taking away saves from normal people who play the normal non cheating way isn't the best option.
I don't mind a hardcore option where if you want to play it without saves you can, and im pretty sure the creator mentioned something along these lines, just aslong as its optional.
P.S Oh one thing the game needs is N.E.S.W compass please.

Minecraft has the same as Kenshi (even worse actually) as you can only save on quit and are forced to save on quit. But I don't think minecraft is doomed to fail...Blackrain wrote: Massive games like this must have a save at will option or its doomed to fail, so please do not take away the ability save when i like, i can understand no saving being used for MMO's but not for single play games thats blasphemy.
Anyway as mentionned before, I think I remember Chris saying it will be an option you can turn on (sth like starting the game in hard-core modus)
I like your idea about being able to switch between turn-based and real-time, it would appeal to more people too I guess, but I don't know if that would be to hard and time-consuming to implement now.
And the compass or mini-map in the screen-corner is sth a lot of people have mentionned and want
You should always proofread carefully to make sure you didn't any words out.
Need help? pm me or any other mod.

Voted for "buying buildings, crafting, research".
That would make the game more interesting and less repetitive in the long run, which would also increase its appeal for potential buyers.
Also, this is the kind of feature that needs quite a bit of testing to be tuned, especially if NPCs start to develop their own settlements/enterprises.
Maybe just a few sounds, if it's not too much of an effort: a blade hitting metal, a scream when hit, just the bare minimum for combat to look less of a clash between ghosts.

What about mounts? Like for caravans and cavalry options.
Maybe a slavery option? This is a post apocalyptic world after a nuclear war right?
If so maybe disease and radiation?
How much into the future are we talking about? Depending on that we can add advanced prosthetic into the mix.
New SFX would be nice as well such as grunts, screams, metal vs metal, more screams, groaning from pain, weapon being (un)sheathed, etc.
Edit: Maybe some ranged options like throwing spears or something.
