I've gotten to the point where my combat skills are roughly equal to that of iron spiders on my top 2-3 fighters, however in terms of damage they have me utterly beaten. I'm hoping to tailor my choice of armour to their damage type but I can't seem to find out whether they're dealing cut or blunt damage. Any help would be appreciated on this.

Looking in the FCS, the robot spiders deal about equal damage of both Blunt and Cut. Though at the moment, it doesn't seem possible to block their attacks.

I'd go for high cut resistance armour. Since you can get that to around 90% of damage resisted, while you're much more limited with the Stun Damage. Just make sure to keep the Stun % low.

It is very possible to dodge their attacks, I usually send Burn to deal with them. Saw Burn take out 4 spiders without getting hit once. Then the fifth hit Burn, stunlocked him with consecutive attacks and I had to attack with the rest of my squad. So I would suggest that stun is really bad when dealing with iron spiders.
