So that picture below.. There are four factions in that picture, doing their thing. The far right, that my troops are aiming at, are anti-slavers, coming to siege my base. Ordered, formulated base-sieging is a part of this once-soundless, desert-only game. As are, as of recent, the long-range sniper's crossbows my troops are using to pick at them, once thought to be a lost cause for entry in to the game. Also thought at one point to have been a lost objective, the bionics that each of those soldiers has replacing their legs and one arm a piece. The dust cloud weather effect, with real in-game consequences, is passing over a randomly-generated-within-the-open-world encampment with fires creating a dynamic light source, itself with in-game effects and consequences. The citizens of that random encampment, random citizens of the Empire, are more forward and left, preparing to defend themselves against a herd of Garru that are roving wild across the great desert.
There is so much random generation and beauty in this game's moments, I wanted to take an opportunity to acknowledge it. And even this far in to the game's evolution, I've still got my guys wearing the black long coats I preferred to use in the early days.
