I don't know about all of you guys but I always assumed that throughout the Kenshi journey of starting off as a sword for hire and turning into the most powerful swordsman alive, would include making some friends. I mean all the guys that were hired individually now fight for their lives together. I think that they might become friends over the course of that. I think it'd be cool if they had a friendship meter almost like in the Sims. I mean say even a simple talking animation of them nodding their heads at each other to make it seem like they're talking.
Another thing I really wanted to know is that, is every NPC in each town going to have a certain name? I mean in an alive world would it really matter if No-name shopkeeper was murdered by bandits because he wasn't paying them for protection. Or would it matter if Joe Taylor you met the other day at his sword shop who you had a good friendship with (Idea above) was murdered because he wasn't paying for protection? I think the latter makes a lot more sense. Friendships could be a really cool idea. I don't know if this was already suggested or not but what do you guys think?

i agree with this since at some point friends can cordenate their attacks and help each other when they are in trouble. this is the reason why a smaller band can sometimes win against a bigger one, not because they were awesome (which isn't always the case) but because they helped eachother kill each enemy.

I believe that Chris is already planning the name idea. As for friendships, do you mean something like Mount & Blade Warband, where the player can establish friendships with companions and local vassals?
I could see that being both good and bad. Good because my actions will make certain factions want to kill me more and bad because my actions will probably make my companions constantly complain. Now If my character can actually run that saloon like in Guild II (And also have the ability to get drunk) then this friendship idea might be interesting. (Who would be foolish not to befriend Crazy Vasili)

There is something to friendships and permadeath though. Well...that being a desire to mount a stalinistic style purge of every lord that has less than an 80% freindship score.
Oh and something else, who are those other people friends with? Your character? He/She can perma-die too. I like this idea, it would be great for a mod I think.

Scotterius brings up a good point. The inter-relationships of any number of your factions guys with any number of any other people would be staggering. Even a simple number in the save file would add lines and lines of text for all the combinations.
If it were to be implemented it might have to be streamlined to person A's relationship with your faction. And even that would involve a decent amount of stuff. Unless Chris has a whole bunch of secrets up his beard somewhere about more efficient ways to do this.
