Hi there,

Iam new here but ive seen this game a long time ago i believe it was on Gametrailers.com
Back then i found it quite interesting but lost track of it.

Now ive found it again in a Steam survey. Really looking forward to this.

But i have 2 pretty much random questions about the game:

First, will it have multiplayer of some sort? Its not bad if it doesnt but it would be very cool to play a game like this with a friend either on LAN or online.

Second are there any other weapons apart from swords? Like spears or glaives for example and ranged weapons like muskets/arquebus or bows/crossbows?

Really hope this gets on Steam the concept looks very promising.

Signed, a fan.

1. No there will not be any multiplayer.

2. Not sure about polearms but definitely bows and harpoons.

I wouldn't want to count out multiplayer not being a feature in this game as an expansion or an addition to a possible follow-up. A game that can't adapt to new features is a game that we somehow find again after ages and wonder when it would get touched-up again.

Remember Nip, the game is still going through its developments, so there are still a lot of things missing to actually make it the Zenshi Chris, the great creator, wanted. For Suggestions and to gain support for things and whatnot, be sure to check out the other threads. Chris has mentioned he had planned the games main fighting style to be heavily on swords, check FAQ.
Otherwise, I join your cause in making it a possible multiplayer game, would be quite an epic moment someday.

Everybody would love the idea of multiplayer, ATLEAST co-op,even chris but he said that he would need to basically start all over and code almost the whole game to make it multiplayer.

Yes, rework horrid horrible.
But just because it requires a lot of rework doesn't mean it should be scrapped and locked away.
With the feedback the game is getting, I don't doubt that multiplayer will probably follow this game as an addition of some kind. Hence the next game to follow-up on this one or an expansion that gives a menu option for multiplayer with the needed coding, but can make use of the data available from the original.

I remember Mount and Blade having talked about their need for a coding rework to get more features in, but there were mods out waaay before warband that were able to provide asked features. Although, I doubt the obsession for children had been ever addressed.

A single guy doesn't have time to re-write the whole code to get multiplayer in while also working on new features. It won't be in kenshi. Maybe years later if a kenshi 2 were to be made it could be built around that from day 1. I seriously doubt there will be multi in this game since it has been talked to death and the creator has said several times "No".

Completing this game may take several years, and making another one with multiplayer will take a lot more than just several years

Are you guys underestimating the power of community modding?
Again, take Mount & Blade for example.

Chris intends the game to be a dynamic world, in which events happen even when the player is not in that location.

I love multiplayer/coop (and I love LAN). Kenshi has A LOT of things going on at once, so multiplayer stability would be in question? (Guild II for example).

If it could be done properly, then I am all for it. (For now that would be an unrealistic workload for Chris).

Also judging from the name Nipponsei, are you from Japan? Welcome to Kenshi.

Btw this game really desperatly needs a development team instead of just one developer.

"Cash is king", as they say. Average salaries can be around 30-50K for some jobs. maybe even higher in the UK, I don't know. Anyone feel like donating to chris so he can hire a new person?

Give it time.

Bigger fan-base = More cash = another dev member or the flexibility when utilising contractors.

Currently there are only 1059 forum members. (No idea as to how many people purchased licenses)

Maybe chris want to be the only dev? it happened in other games, where the dev dont want help because they would lose control of the game a little bit. :ugeek:

Most likely he will continue to outsource for when he needs specific things. Worked with Vurt and the foliage system. Seems to be working well with the new art guy considering the work that has been put on display.

So what happened out of the volunteer work that used to be accepted, heard it went downhill for some reason.
