Is the game engine scaling baddies relative to anything about the player, time or events in world?
Or is it strictly regional map locations determining the level of local baddies?
here is my situation that has me ??? on this aspect of the engine functions.
got a stable base going near the settled nomads
every thing has been pretty rinse repeat cycling for a while to a nice predictable state in my local area.
then suddenly it seems as if the roaming bands of hungry bandits have doubled in size.
I used to see groups of around 10-15 or so and only one every so often at that. I had set to a campaign of wiping out all the dust and hungry camps in my area and now just saw one from time to time that seemed to be at the edge of its roaming range to be around me anyway.
But now not only am i finding hungry and dust bandit groups roaming the area more commonly. None of them has less than 20, and i'm finding new camps popping up around d the edges of my patrol routes.
So I just wanna understand what's going on in this game's engine basically. I kinda can't make plans of what try and accomplish, when i am not sure what can or can not be accomplished.
Is it possible to wipe out a faction, like the Dust Bandits, permanently?
Is it possible to remove camps and/or nests permanently? Or does the game world keep a minimum number of them, spawning in new ones as needed?
Is the game dynamically scaling baddies and/or their numbers based on anything? If so what are the factors in engine that influence this?
time? events? player faction head count? player calculated faction strength?
Thanks to anyone that has any info on this.

1. No, nothing scales to players.
2. You can end some raids like "black dragon ninjas" by killing/capturing the leader, however most other low level raid
groups don't seem to be stoppable (and that might be a good thing).

The size of the bandit parties doesn't scale with you, but the area you are in is right on the border of the low number groups and the high number groups. The larger number of hungry bands patrols are generally north and east of you.
It could be that you killed off enough of the Dustys and thus the hungry bands are able to roam farther south without opposition, so they are now making it to your door.
I believe the while you can wipe out the bandit nests near you, they will respawn elsewhere. Only by destroying a faction head can you kill a faction off. Since hungry bandits don't have a faction head, I think they will keep spawning.

did some looking around and found out that yeah, some factions simply can't be removed. though taking out camps and/or leaders can significantly reduce their numbers in a given area(spawn rate changes).
And as you had indicated here, i discovered that yes hungry bandit camps close by but technically in a different zone are larger. And it was them i was seeing around the area. I had been wiping out camps all around, but basically had one of them respawn in that zone right near the edge. So now i see em when i hadn't before.
But good to know we can remove camps, and while they will come back (to some minimum amount in an area). They might at least spawn in farther away and we can just keep 'rolling those dice' until they come up right for us.
