View Distance

I didn't see anything about this so I figure I'd share it with the people that didn't already know.
If you have a higher end pc then you can probably see much further than the limits the option menu gives you.

To do this, open the kenshi folder in your computer. Then scroll down and open a file called "settings" and open it with notepad. you can then alter the numbers for view distance, grass range, foliage range, ect. (Be careful when doing this, don't increase the numbers too much(mainly the view distance), 2x-8x at first) Make sure to save the file, and also save a backup of the file to your desktop or another destination just in case.

Doing this does make it take longer to load in the start of the game, but I doubled all of my numbers and have the settings on full and I get full frames so if you wait the extra 10 seconds in the start, its worth it.

Care to share the important stats of your computer so the users at home can compare?

Isn't the view distance in the current graphics settings?

I have a AMD Athlon II X4 640 Processor 3.00GHz
4 GB Ram
Raedon 6870 HD

And yes, but they have a limit, if you do this you can go past that limit.

Processor speed would be the most important thing here right? I'm not a huge computer buff but those stats look similar enough to mine. I might try out your little trick. Thanks for sharing dude.

Yeah, if you have a 4 core or higher, you're all set for some far distances with grass and foliage, the loading time in the beginning is a combination of your processor and how much ram you have, I have 4GB which isn't bad but if I had 8GB then I would probably increase the view distance from 2x to 6x.

I have 8 cores. Each one is moderately weak though and I am not sure how well kenshi is multi-threaded so it may not take full advantage of my system. Some games run very poorly despite more advanced games running well; can be a bit of a toss up.

(Fuck you carrier command)

I've seen it. Dunno what it's for though, what does the black hole of morality have to say? I bet it's to insult a saint.

Carrier command has horrible graphical glitches with my computer. Like, unplayable full on terrible display issues that I cannot fix. I wasted $30+ of my valuable monies on that thing and now it stares at me from my steam list....gloating at me. =(

My processor is quad core with 2.8Ghz and does pretty good with full draw distance. The game runs smooth as can be but I had more crashes.

It is a bit ridiculous, talking about CPU/RAM power, when it comes to view distance and such. This is to 90% dependent on your graphic card(s), not much else.
