All Dressed Up, And Nowhere To Go...

OK. What we now have are 18 tough guys that were former 98 pd weaklings getting sand kicked in their faces by emaciated bandits who are now at 28/30 and bear ring sabres, with decent armor culled mostly from United and Holy Empire types. The outpost is rolling well with rum, fabric, and bread, all of which have made us upwards of 30 Gs in cats. Bandits and ninjas are dispatched with ease and alacrity.

Other than the continued exploration and money-making, now what..?

Can alliances be bought, or made?

Can settlements be attacked, and taken over?

Can factions be destroyed, or used as allies [ or we become allied with them.. for a time].

Is there other-than-merchant/ guard ''get lost''/ store security ''don't steal anything''/ interaction with another being?

and if yes to any of these, what action sets these things into motion?

As always, my thanks to the community for their input. ;)

Didn't make out the typo. That was ''Empire'' instead of ''United'' [ had football/soccer on the brain].

Hypothetically, you could clear out a settlement. I don't think there are mechanics yet to take ownership though, so you'd have a ghost town.

As said above, just go for a settlement. Right click an "ally" and attack.

Still in alpha. I am sure you know this but it does bear repeating. The game lacks the vast majority of its promised content right now. Give it some time and follow the post that chris made on the main page recently to get some idea of what is to be expected in the coming months. (ie. ranged combat, less buggy walls, weapon and armour crafting, etc.)

Thanks again to all. I realize that such questions are redundant [ ''wheres the WALLS''?, etc.], but the answers are a decent guidepost for those players who have reached this stage of the game to consider either

1. Leaving for a while, maybe several months and then come back with the new updates in place, or

2. Carry on and continue to get numbers up amongst your group by the usual battles against ninja/bandits and forego going after allies or neutrals at the moment while also building up better weapons/armor for the group.

Looks like No.2 won out...... ;)

Be careful though... you can't reset your factions even if you start a new game with your existing team. So if you never want to use that town again, have at it! But currently in the state of the game, towns are more useful functional than not. You can make more than enough money and get the items you need just living in your own settlement and awaiting the random attacks, or sending 4 or so men out to search for them.

All excellent points. I did not realize how useful they were until I moved from the constantly-at-war valley region around Eyesocket where I was doing more fighting than farming, headed across the mountain range into the desert beyond Blink, and came into a large badlands region around Catan hitting on the idea to copy the city, and find a mesa on which to build another town. Now, eveyone is busy cranking out rum, bread and fabrics, Catan is only a few minutes away for trade, the enemy are little more than faraway specks on the horizon, and the loot is rolling in for new armor and weapons. So far, so good.

''Brink'', of course.
