Bench placement issue

I have built a small house, and am trying to place the Research bench 2 in it, how ever it tells me too close to a building.... it has to be inside a building but it wont. Its the only thing in it. I have tried to google anything about this but nothing shows for too close to a building. Haven't found any information about placing buildings. Can anyone help with this please?

I had built 1 house and managed to get it to allow me to place one.. however when i did it just blocked the door and now i cant build that one and i cant remove it cause my guy cant get to it. I cant remove the home because i have to remove whats inside first.

After much fiddling, I managed to get mine to fit, but there's an easier alternative. Buy one of the larger houses in town by clicking on the door, and then the buy button which should appear in the lower left of the screen. You can then place your brlench in there.

the small house can fit the second research bench, i had this same problem when i was placing mine.

if one house was elevated higher than another it would place and other derpy things like that would happen, like he^ said just keep trying different rotations and what not.
