I just bought the game literally 30 minutes ago and am not used to the laggy mouse. Are there any options or tweaks I can apply to speed up my mouse?
EDIT: Also, what options on startup (Direct 3D9) should I choose for maximum efficiency?
Mouse lag resolutions?
Don't work at fast food if you don't have to.
dont know for the laggy mouse.
but for best performance:
- fullscreen: yes.
Windowed mode uses more resources in most cases. Full screen takes more advantage of driver and system resources, and it also does not have to deal with Windows' desktop composition system.
-floating point mode :fastest.
on average consistant mode has about 4% lower average framerate. But its really a small difference, so if u run on a 64bit system you may want to change it to consistent. (on 32bit stay with fastest, doestn't matter)
-FSAA: 0.
it's used to produce a more realistic-looking image (something about rendering a fullscale image before cropping it down to your resolution i think) anyway go for 0 for performance
-NVperf: no.
thats just interesting for NVidia users but stay on no for performance
-Vsync: no.
if you experience tearing of the image, then turn it on. But turning it on may decrease your FPS. Depends on what card you have and how demanding the game is.
hope this helps. If I said something wrong please tell me^^

FSAA gives things less pixelated edges and is usually very cheap
Vsync is highly recommended. It caps the framerate to max 60fps, which results in smoother camera/mouse movement.
The single biggest factor for performance is number of NPCs in the area. this can be adjusted in the settings.cfg, and also by mods.

Thanks! These all really helped a lot. Another thing that aids the speed of the game is making your camera take an arial view. Apparently it doesn't render the sky. Is there any settings you can enable fog or something to prevent the rendering of the background or something?
