Forts and Factions
Hello, and welcome what i like to call "Forts an Factions". When ever i play a rpg game i like to have a wide variety of original factions and interesting buildings. In this forum i would like discuss ideas for the game about these topics. All ideas are welcome and if they are good enough i would like to see them included in the game.
What i would first like to discuss is the races that should be in the game. My ideas for races are elves, since you cant have an rpg without elves, dwarves, for the same reason, and orcs, since you always need a bad guy. Please submit your own ideas for races, or for building designs and factions.

I am pretty sure that "no fantasy" is in the game description. Though by all means, if you feel like modding in it then I might play said mod.
That said there is much that could be desiered in the fortresses, like say, a northern fortress (presuming that when he gets about producing foliage we will see varied enviorments) with a wooden palisade/stone walls and houses which is basicly just a stair into a basement, to conserve heat during harsh winters. A tree top village for a joungle people would be cool to, with bridges connecting the diffrent houses and a defence mechanism where they would just cut off the bridge to the ground in case of an attack.

i dont like elves... nor the other always the same fantasy races...
i like the way it's now, somewhat realistic. But if you start adding elves and co then you'll have to add magic and stuff. The whole stereotyp does not fit in with Kenshi in my opinion.
(but why not as a mod^^)

Im not saying the game should have magic, since i think it would ruin the game, but in the planed features there's this "More races are planned, other than just humans". So what im saying is that if there is going to be more races, there should be certain types like a fast race,(like elves),a tough race, an aggressive race, and many others.

Lemme get this straight - THE GAME IS NOT A FANTASY GAMEskynet464 wrote:Im not saying the game should have magic, since i think it would ruin the game, but in the planed features there's this "More races are planned, other than just humans". It is realistic. By races I think he means Cannibals, Midgets etc.
This is not Skyrim, nor Albion, nor Hyrule, nor Azaroth.

Not sure if cannibals and midgets can be considered a seperate race though. One of them is more of a behavior thing and the other is present in every race.Lorenzo666 wrote:Lemme get this straight - THE GAME IS NOT A FANTASY GAMEskynet464 wrote:Im not saying the game should have magic, since i think it would ruin the game, but in the planed features there's this "More races are planned, other than just humans". Yes, i know this is not a fantasy game. But when you hear races other than humans, you wouldn't think midgets, you would think dwarves. But i am sure you are right when you say there wont be fantasy races in it, since i think they will have different names then what there names usually are, like for example, instead of elves, they could be called "Lectors". But what im saying is that if there are different races other than humans, they should have different stats then humans.Lorenzo666 wrote:Lemme get this straight - THE GAME IS NOT A FANTASY GAMEskynet464 wrote:Im not saying the game should have magic, since i think it would ruin the game, but in the planed features there's this "More races are planned, other than just humans". btw, not to be rude or anything (this irks me something insanely you see), but humans are a specie and races are more like diffrent sort of humans. The diffrence between the two goes along the lines of "two animals which can have a fertile offspring is of the same specie, races are induvidials of the same specie with similar qualitative properties"skynet464 wrote:Yes, i know this is not a fantasy game. Not really relevant if not there is some sidenote that dwares and elves can't have fertile offspring with humans though, and if there is then this game got lots of lore before it even got finished.
btw, sorry if I seem a bit odd, but I am on a coffe high and kinda bored so I sink my time into writing semi silly things like now

elves or lectors, the name isn't important, but if they have long ears and live many hundreds of years then thats a problem. Also you were talking about orcs in your first post. if thats not fantasy lol.
when i read different races in a non-fantasy universe, i think first about different skin colors (white black red yellow) and then different live styles (imperial civilized, barbarian, robin hood style (maybe =lectors without long ears^^)

Since we got the race thing pinned down, is there any thoughts on forts?
I got a particuleary bloody dark stone fortress in mind for cannibals (think of every evil disney characters stone fortress without the "intended for kids" perspective and you got it mostly right), presuming that they are advanced and not the good ol' tribal cannibal. In which case it would be pretty straighforward to just set up some straw huts on insanely large cliffs or to copy the mayas with pyramides.

Yes, your right. When i was saying elves and dwarves i was talking about how fast elves are and how tough dwarves are. What i would like is that when there are different races that they have different stats, instead of just looking different. So NO ELVES OR DWARVES OR ORCS. Just humans that look different and have different stats.1337 wrote:elves or lectors, the name isn't important, but if they have long ears and live many hundreds of years then thats a problem. since the game has a definite Japanese flavor maybe some sort of mythological beings would fit in (a ton of source to work from and definitely interesting and new, especially with a western interpretation).
I would certainly like to see it as a mod or a special mode you can choose to play. There was some talk about a dragon some time ago. You can even add the more fantasy oriented beings like orcs^^.
Something I thought could be added are Geishas. Not really a race but whatever...
Going to Capital and seeing a group of geisha strolling around would be quite fun

This game is pretty original, which is good. So it seems like some of the things we should see as a playable race are going to be out of the norm.
Personally. I'd like to see.
Human - average everything
Cyborg - Higher strength and speed, however they are 'healed' for less when someone is healing them.
Custom Race 1 - Different skin hues but not too far away from us humies (not automatically orc green or elf white but maybe starting in a light red) - A race for charismatic players
Custom Race 2 - This race can share the human tones but needs a size difference (either in height or weight in general, could have different skin altogether (lizard men) but should be representative of players that prefer dexterous characters. (You could mix and match with the customs obviously)

The main problem is that we don' know much about game lore.
I also have few ideas about races, but unfortunately I cannot defeat my laziness and make concepts of them.
For example we know about 'robotics' skill, but we don't know anything about it. It may be just bizarre Da Vinci machines.Suk Joon wrote: Cyborg - Higher strength and speed, however they are 'healed' for less when someone is healing them.

Maybe the races would be more like what region of the world your character comes from?
And this would affect some aspects of your character depending on the province's speciality.

I was aware of robotics and I thought there was an idea about giving yourself robotic parts.. but it felt kind of like a half-step.. So I was thinking about 'going all the way' and having the option to select a cybernetic (Your brain is part Ai) character, this could give you a new playstyle and maybe even generate some race specific quests (to find your creator or whatever).
An AI would assume some rather fancy computer tech though, and from what I have seen from this game thus far it does not seem like it will be geared for something like that. Though I got to admit that "finding your creator" quest do have some appeal to it. Especially if he proves to be an evil fellow wanting you to do his biding, whereupon you must choose whether to disobey him and flee (possible that he will send robotic henchmen to "disassemble" you), disobey him and killing him which rids the world of yet another evil but effectively makes you kill your own "dad", or to serve him as his evil second in command, terrorizing the world.Suk Joon wrote:I was aware of robotics and I thought there was an idea about giving yourself robotic parts.. but it felt kind of like a half-step.. But I digress

I have to agree with henkalv on this one. What he probably meant by robotics is probably not very advanced, like as in stuff that runs on a steam engine, though it would be cool to have a cyborg for a character.henkalv wrote:An AI would assume some rather fancy computer tech though, and from what I have seen from this game thus far it does not seem like it will be geared for something like that.Suk Joon wrote:I was aware of robotics and I thought there was an idea about giving yourself robotic parts.. but it felt kind of like a half-step..
