Is there a way to reset trader npc locations

i ran into a snag. during my 240+ days (ingame) of playing, i have been setting and resetting the AI squad multiplier setting back and forth all throughout my gameplay [terrible idea] and i have been noticing missing NPCs (empty shops). I frequent Brink and know there should be an NPC there but i made do living without them for quite a while (maybe ~100 ingame days). But lately i tinkered with it again (got bored, needed bloodshed) and now the police chief has disappeared (the one that collects bounties) as well as , lets say... 75% of the trader NPC population.
i tried to import my game with all my buildings and stuff, and like it said it was buggy. the items inside my buildings were gone, so that wasnt an option for me. next i tried to see if i could transfer some files, i started a new game, browsed the kenshi folder, copy pasted all the default .zone .states and pasted it in my COPY of my saved game. NPCs were still missing.
Maybe this could be a "feature" i could request [reset trader npc locations]?
Also, anyone know how to "edit" the number of days counter? Just incase i do decide to just import into a new game and rebuild my interior, im a bit OC about the number of days i have already spent and would like to start with those amount of days instead of starting from 0 days XD
buuuuuuut with that new map (i just learned this now from browsing all day about kenshi) in the horizon, dont think this would be much of a problem XD
meh, <3 kenshi

if it does help, i saw a group of traders (had the talk to mouse over) just walk out like it was a patrol. I may have mistaken it for a trade caravan or i may have seen it say Trader or Shop NPC or something, cant remember. I am assuming they got bugged up during my switches that they formed patrols and headed out

then with my reduction of AI number, they may have gotten deleted that way. just a hunch

I've found 1 village with 0 NPCs, not a guard, shop vender nor a civilian. I think they need at add a invisible spawn point for NPCs that would spawn a NPCs and it would have to travel from the spawn to the city. It would be like a travailing vendor that enters a town without a vender and then desides to setup shop. All towns, outposts should have there own spawn point. This would stop rival NPCs from fighting at the spawn point possibly causing a major issue at a spawn point.

I never spend so much in game days in a game yet...but there is one trader outpost that the guards and the trader just constantly go outside to fight some dogs...and never returned...Possibly got killed or got stuck somewhere in the map..but I was never able to find their corpse or whereabouts...
So are the NPC behave like in Skyrim, where the npc got killed and never respawn? Or will respawn after certain time? So in theory if we killed every trader in every city, the whole map will have no trader at all?

importing into a new game resets all populations.

Will there be a more natural solution(respawn, replaced npc) rather than having to importing into a new games every once in a while in future builds? Or will this be a permanent feature of the game? Just wondering...

we will see in the future how the Dev plans to handle this.

OK, maybe that's my problem. I'm just a newbie (14 hours in the game), and I keep finding shops with no merchants. Often, there aren't any potential companions in the bars, either.
I assumed that the bandits were killing them off, because bandit gangs keep running into the towns. And as far as I can tell from searches here, the townspeople don't respawn or migrate in, so that's a pretty big problem for me, with an inexperienced character.
However, when I was checking the options one time, I realized that I'd accidentally changed the AI squad multiplier setting - and maybe other settings there, too - by rolling my mouse wheel when I happened to have the cursor on that setting.
It was entirely accidental, and I don't know how many times I've done it. Also, I have no idea what the original setting
was. (Can anyone help me with that?) But maybe this is why I'm missing so many townspeople?
The solution, apparently, is to import my saved game into a new game. Unfortunately, I see a lot of error reports here from that, too. So I'm not sure I want to take that step - not yet, at least. And I suppose that won't change the option settings, anyway. So if that's the problem, it probably wouldn't fix it.
Anyway, what does the "the AI squad multiplier setting" actually
do? There's no explanation of what that option even affects. There's another setting with it - can't remember what it's called - which is equally a mystery to me. Anyone want to explain what they do? And what they should be set to?
Thanks.

default setting is 1.
you will need to import into a new game for it to take effect. ( buildings are the buggy part when importing )
multiplier is just what it says, if you go above the default of 1. it adds more based on the number you select. it multiplies the default numbers by the setting you choose.
for beginners they should leave the settings at 1.

OK, thanks. Apparently, that didn't cause a problem, since I changed it after I started this game, huh?

OK, I've got it. I think.
Thanks again.
