The town guards got wiped out after the trader guild came to my rescue. I had been recognized as a slave or was wearing trader guild uniforms when the town guard attacked my men. The traders guild came by and wiped out the entire town in retaliation. 8-) Seems a bit odd that wandering traders would be capable of wiping out an entire town guard.

Depends. Trading is based on traveling and traveling is extremely dangerous in Kenshi. Thus the Trader Guild has to have some kind of army to protect the trade (aka caravan guards). And even if they don t maintain a stanging army at any time, they surely have the means to create a host of mercenarys pretty fast.

so I would say yes, the trader guild is and should be able to wipe towns. It only feels strange that they do it after you got attacked and I feel like you shouldn t be important enough to them, even if you wear their uniform and have 100 Friendship, in the end it s one town less to sell their stuff to ;)

I don't know how I feel about a caravan guard being able to wipe a town out. Not just as a BASE. Understandably, if this particular caravan and it's guards are well traveled, and therefore have been the target of numerous raids and battles, then yes, I can understand THAT caravan being able to take out the town guard. But not without suffering HEAVY casualties themselves. I really think the problem isn't that everything else is too powerful, and in some ways it really does make sense that they're as strong as they are. I think the real problem with all these scenarios where town guards get killed is that the town guards need to be beefed up.

I've made this statement before, but if town guards are so easily killed, you ruin the immersion of this game world. If guards can't protect these cities from something as simple as repetative waves of wildlife or bandit attacks, said cities could not have been constructed and existed in the first place. It is simply not possible for this world to maintain itself if these guards who are essentially the sole defense of these bastions of civilization and humanity are so easily picked off that the roving bands of enemies, bandits or otherwise, can kill them. I don't know about you, but in a world like this, if I can't rely on a guard who's SOLE PURPOSE is to keep the baddies out of my town and house and keep me safe, I'm not only getting whatever weapons and armor I can and learning to defend myself, but I'm not staying in said town just waiting for the pathetic guards to get killed so the overwhelming force can come find me and do the same thing to me.
