Police Armour

So, after some police got taken out by a Sand Ninja, I took his armour, since I liked the balance between protection and athletics. But, I got arrested for wearing it, so got rid of it.
Is there a way to obtain it legally, and not get arrested for wearing it?

I don't believe there is. When you wear the police uniform it considers it a disguise, and the police will assume you killed and looted one of their members (which is reasonable) so you could just avoid the police?

I actually wear Specialist Grade police armor on my main character. I love the stats but hate the fact that it's a uniform.
You could probably steal one from a bounty hunter. It's not likely listed as a police uniform if it comes from them. Though they are not exactly a common spawn, and they don't always wear police armor. But they do occasionally have it.

well eventually they're supposed to add jobs an the ability to join factions i believe.
so in the future you will probably be able to join and obtain one through working for the police, or other faction for their respective armour/clothing/weapons.

I have one on my main character that I have had since a long time and they don't attack me for it, but if I loot a new one they do.
Maybe something can be edited somewhere?

Welp, you've got three methods, methinks.
1)Create a mod that allows you to CRAFT the police armour.
2)Create a mod that allows you to PURCHASE the armour from vendors.
3)Create a mod that magically bestows you the armour in a GAME START.
Basically, if you want non-faction Police Armour, you're gonna have to buy it, craft it, or spawn with it, and since you can't do any of these, (With Police Armour), normally in-game, you'll have to mod it in for such use.

As I mentioned before.

I totally missed that in my sleep-deprived forum trawl. My bad. But I do suppose that is a legitimate way to get one; granted, the Bounty Hunters might try to kill him for jacking it, but allswell that ends well.

Preferable to craft it, since there are armor qualities past standard. Would love to see research options of such quality levels per equipment piece; the highest ones are treated like Edge weapon qualities: very long to research, very long to make. Something that a master armorsmith sees as a worthy challenge like a master weaponsmith crafts an Edge Type 5 Plank.
Only one unit in one of my old save files can wield that Plank through legitimate solo training and insta-kill unarmored/poorly armored humanoids with cut and blunt damage on one unencumbered swing. (Another old save file was that same unit duplicated into a legion of 60 through the accidentally discovered exploit I found and
pointed out. Have yet to pit all 60 them to a Leviathan because I haven't found one yet.)
