it seems as if they do. If you go to capital (main merc and free traders, not to be confused with traders guild) while enemies with the mercenary guild, the mercs will attack you and the free traders will defend you with the goal "attacking trouble makers"

This doesn't make much sense as-is, as they were previously peacefully co-existing in the city. Has anyone else seen this behavior with any of the other factions?

Capital also contains the "dead cat" faction which is more than a little weird. this faction controls all the shops other than the central outpost.

maybe it can be integrated more into the story. the free traders and mercs coexist but in reality are looking for reasons to fight each other. the alliance is only money related and has no true loyalty.

(just justifying the glitch in the AI)

How many NPC's do you need to kill to become an enemy of a faction?

I was going to start ganking the traveling merchants to see what they dropped however, i wasn't sure if the faction system was functional yet.. apparently it is lol.

Right now you dont even need to kill, attack one member of a faction and you are enemy of the whole thing instantly.

Awh! That sucks, You should be able to gank lone traders and face no rep loss due to there being no witnesses. It will be interesting to see how the faction system evolves! So much to look forward too! :P
