chopper vs nodachi

So I am trying to find a nice balance between attack and blocking speed. I cant decide which i prefer, the horse chopper or the nodachi. I will open this up to whomever cares to comment.

i prefer topper, although you need to unlock the BP using FCS if you want to build them to max quality

I do like the topper and it is a nice balance especially for early characters but im more curious about the horse chopper vs nodachi because of my old soldier start. I like the speed and bleed of the nodachi but the chopper...well it chops and is very good at that

I prefer the Nodachi.

Both give a defensive bonus, and the chopper's is higher. But it also has a penalty to the attack skill. For new characters that can be a very bad problem as you are always on defense because you can't mount an adequate attack.

Nodachi has a longer reach then the chopper, and I believe is faster. Plus it has no attack penalty like the chopper has. At lower levels that is more important then at higher ones. It's defense bonus is not as high as the chopper, but if you want a weapon just for defensive an Iron club is faster, has a better defense bonus and no offensive penalty.

BAH! never mind me, don't know what kind of brain fart I was having but I was talking about the topper as well. Not sure why I switched them in my head. But was playing and setting up my weapons maker que and the light bulb came on.

Nodachi doesn't have a defense bonus, it has an attack bonus and defense penalty. Still not the best for new characters. I prefer something with no penalties. Start with a Short sword or topper then switch to the Nodachi when you have trained up enough. They are all in the same class so you don't lose anything by training with them. It's a big sword and best left for the big boys.

But then at that point I would still use Nodachi over Chopper.
