Guards' AI regarding looting

So, I'm looting a chest during night time, when all the guards are sleeping. I have over 100% chance to loot any and all items. I'm also sneaking while looting, and, telling by the stealth indicator, no one was observing me.

Now, as soon as I took an item from the chest and put it into my inventory, a sleeping guard gets alerted of my thievery, wakes up, starts shouting and chasing me. This guard was sleeping in a completely different room (there was even a wall between us). What kind of 6th sense do these guards have?

Is it meant to work like this, or is it just a bug? Because it doesn't make sense and just hinders my gameplay.

Has happened to me to. I think this is a bug but I do not know what's causing it.

As far as I know they're still fine-tuning Stealth and Thievery. . Might be bugs, or just imperfect application of the skill so far.

Likely to be fixed, but I'd stick this in the Bugs pile for now.

my explanation out side of "Stealth/Theivery" isn't done yet.

is that perhaps you made' noise' an woke the guard up. sure you have a 100% chance of picking it up an taking it . but that doesn't mean you aren't making noise when you do so .

its a problem with the thievery system.
