I came across a mod I was interested in (due to problems I was having) but only one of the changes it included. That was adding a chance for Security Spiders to drop AI Cores.
I'm completely new to it but opened up the mod and then tried to recreate the settings for the AI Core drop, though more to my liking.
Ignoring the things from the mod I'm not interested it, it looked like it was creating a Vendor with the cores (because you can't just add the item?), then adding a reference to that vendor in the Security Spider's inventory.
Though it doesn't seem to be working, and I was hoping someone could help clear up some things for me so I could understand how to make this work.
This is what it currently looks like

inventory:AI Core = 50 , I presumed was the chance of the entry appearing in their inventory, so tried higher values when lower ones didn't result in a drop, though it doesn't seem to be working so I'm doubting everything I've presumed. The only thing I'm now certain about is I'm editing the correct creature as the inventory size changed and if I edit the on death items it has results ingame.
Would someone mind please explaining how I could do this, hopefully along with how to set the chance of the item dropping (what determines that), as I'm not entirely convinced the "inventory:AI Core = 50" (making it a 50% chance?) is the whole story.
(I have been importing the save to test the results)
Thanks.
Adding items to creature inventory?

Hell, I thought it was just fall under Death Items. I used that to ramp up the drop of raw meat for animals as I thought the original drop amount was too low for the size of some of them.
In case you're unfamiliar, you get there by Selecting "Characters" and then the submenu "Animals"

I haven't checked on this since I posted it, did a few other things instead.
Though if I remember right death items are guaranteed drops, so wouldn't be a great idea for such a valuable item.
I also remember trying the full mod who's part I wanted to somewhat replicate an it turned out it wasn't working in that mod either.
I think it may be related to the "Death Items" and "Inventory" items appearing in different "containers" and I'm not sure if the Death Items part even supports drop rates/chances and by default there is no other "container" on spiders.
Though I'm just guessing since as I haven't checked back on trying it since.
