Merely checking to see who would be interested in a realistic-combat mod.

Anyone interested?

I dont really see why there should be a mod to improve the combat in the game. it will be improved anything. I think...

Realism mods are a bit like the choice between vanilla or chocolate. One isn't necessarily better than the other--just that one might suit your tastes better, or be something you feel like at certain times.

From what I can tell, the Dev team aren't focusing on simulating real combat. At some point, there'll b a movement for a realism mod--just wondering if people are interested in one yet.

Realism mod? Kenshi is EXTREMELY near realism, so I don't see that happening. Also there is much more to be added.

Kenshi isn't particularly realistic (the armour barely works, people take a dozen cuts just fine, etc.). However, it has the capability for an extremely accurate realistic combat mod, which makes it a prime game for one.

I love realism! That's like... my favorite element in any game. In fact, that's purely what my own game is focused on right now. People keep talking about the development of this game, but I guess don't realize that you're only talking about a mod, lol.

My ideas are that armor are really kind of a hit and miss system, no pun intended. If the armor works, it will almost completely block all damage. If it doesn't, it will block very little damage and get damaged itself in the process. IE, a sword hits plate armor. The plate will just completely spread the cutting force across your entire chest plate, which will basically add up to no pressure, depending on the weight and force behind the weapon. However, if a sword can slice through the armor, it will basically gut you right there and you'll probably die. And now your armor has a big hole in it. This is highly unlikely to happen, though, if your armor is at least a few millimeters thick and the person with the sword isn't 20 ft tall.
HOWEVER, armor can get bent... and bent metal does have less structural stability than normal armor...

Sorry about that big pile of brainstorming!

Glad there is someone else enthusiastic about realism in games on the board :). Would be interested to hear about the game you're developing.

Your idea of armour is a good start. After spending years studying the subject, I've found the issue isn't easy to simplify. It's true that armour can stop arrows and etc. altogether, with the wearer only being rather jostled. However, even if an armour goes through your mail and gambeson, your armour will reduce the penetration (what would've killed you will only incapacitate you). Unless you get unlucky (one guy had an arrow buried in his armpit, so you could only barely see the fletchings)...

Hope to speak with you more on the board. If a realism mod gets more interest, I'd like to work on it with like-minded fans of Kenshi.
