So since I've started modding and know a bit about using blender and such I thought I might share something not everyone knows and thats how I texture/set up textures for my models.

First off this guide maybe a bit different for anyone that uses blender 2.5 and above I'm sorry I just don't use it and I'll probably in the future but I'm more comfortable with it and thats just how stubborn I am lol but the concept should be the same on how you do everything so hopefully it still helps people that use the newer version of Blender.

Alright so onto the tutorial this is an example of one of my textures it's bad sure but I only quickly made it I'll definitely change it later lol but its just an example of how to set out your object textures.

So with that note the next thing is to show you how to set up blender and then make a texture for it.

First off most people usually make a new window so that it's split into two but you can just click at the top where it says Model go down to Script and now you have your second window but it does show what you need so at the bottom go to where it says scripts and set it to UV/Image Editor and now you're ready

Alright so you're not done yet far from it now what you need to do is make sure you are in Edit mode (Tab for Blender 2.49b I assume its the same for the newer versions) and hitting the U key (again assuming its the same in the newer versions) then Project from view, from what it looks like on the side it shows the model as you seen and thats basically how I do things I know its different for other people I feel its a lot easier when you go to texture stuff

And the last bit because I can't upload more than 3 attachments lol is here sorry about it being scaled but yeah its just so its not too cut off hopefully you can see what I tried to zoom in on

Now after playing around with it you should get something like what I got (It takes awhile trust me but its worth it down the line when you go to texture it) what I do is using the numpad switch between top, side and bottom views to get the faces matched to the right spot just so you don't select something thats already been set.

To save the file go to UV then to Scripts and the Save UV Face Layout. Sorry if the picture is too small.

That last bit is just to save the file as an external texture file it saves it in .tga and you can just open it up in photoshop or in my case paint.net (I only use paint.net to save it as a .dds file) now just remember to put it in the right spot which should be somewhere in your kenshi folder but yeah you're done!

I hope this small tutorial helped someone and in case I forget to explain something more could someone just tell me and I'll at it into the tutorial!

Anyways happy texturing!

Awesome I'm glad someone thinks so :D I made it just so if anyone wants to start modding they have somewhere to start, I started with textures and do 3d Models now :D its awesome, I also am thinking of adding it european style weapons just to give the game more variety.

Hey,

not really getting that much from your guide, yet.

But I intend to start using Blender to create meshes/textures for them.

Would you mind to share your Blender version and which scripts you use to work with .mesh meshes?

So far I researched that I'd probably need Ogre Mesh Importer, Blender 2.49b and Python 2.6.6, could you confirm that?

On a side note:
Are you able with your combination to do rigging and get support for animations?
And you're probably just able to support 1 UV layer with your setup, right?

It was only intended to be helpful if you know a bit more about Blender then just the basics and yeah its only for one UV layout though I don't see the point in more than one but that is just what I've with from past mods for games.

Yes it's 2.49b and for python I have 2.6.2 but I guess 2.6.6 works too.

I haven't been able to get anything regarding skeletons import and export so animating is out of the question, I have yet to figure out everything you can do with the modding tool Chris provides but I have asked him about giving more information regarding this, and like I said in my other thread not sure if he is going to respond to it due to being busy and stuff but I guess in the future he'll say something more about it or I hope.
