Can't use activation

Hi.

I bought a copy of Kenshi via Gamers Gate which I activated with steam. However I've lost my steam account and I dont have access to the email account I used to set it up so I would have to start a fresh with Steam.

I've tried downloading the demo version and using the key I have but it doesn't work.

I've also tried downloading a copy via Gamers Gate but it's the 0.40.4 version and the online updater is broken and so this copy is kinda useless being such an old version.

Am I kinda screwed and have to buy another copy? or is there still a way to play an up to date version of this game?
