ARMA is a game on which you can play a REAL millitary game. I think it can also be TPS, but I'm not sure. Anyways, controling vehicles like helicopters, planes, armored cars, APCs, jeeps, etc. requires actual skill and not just some basic skill on shooting and etc. Anyways, it's pretty awesome and makes CoD look like a kid's game.

Cool, i love it when games try and go their own direction. Just too bad I am not into FPS. =(

Arma II, seems to actually incorporate physics into the way the air vehicles fly. VERY fun game.

Hey whateever happened to guys saying EVE Online sucks? It's not for smart people (god people that say that are stupid and don't deserve EVE), but to people who know how to live in the middle of the anarchy. I don't know about you, but they seem retarded when they say "HURR DURR ONLY SMART PEOPLE CAN PLAY THIS GAME HERP DERP DERPETY DERP!". What do YOU think, though?

EvE online is one of those games I would like to pick up and play but i just don't have that kind of patience. I like the idea of it in spirit but i just cant get myself to really stay on it.

I have to say though ship games kill me. I'm really just over thinking it but I like the idea of working as a team on one ship and not have the whole ship itself all operated by one guy. (I like FTL waaay too much XD)

I'm also dying to pick up the old X-Com series but... it makes my eyes bleed... They also sort of just drop you off like a baby in the woods without telling you how to do anything or what anything means or does. It looks fun after you learn all of it though.

anyway my top 5

1) Star Ocean 2

2) Mount & Blade: warband

3) FTL

4) CIV 3-5

5) Mass Effect (still a good series despite the ending...)

Mine are:

1. S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear Sky- Most people think that this game sucks, but with Clear Sky complete or whatever it is amazingly fun.

2. Total war: Shogun 2 (Or Shogun 2: total war)- Extremely fun and addictive to me. The best Total war game there is so far.

3. Mount and Blade: Warband- Awesome gameplay and I love how you fight as the general and command your soldiers at the same time.

4. Oblivion- Personally I think that this is the best TES, I hate Skyrim. The modding for this game is awesome and very addictive.

5. Rome: Total war- I love this game for many different reasons and one is the fact that you can use elephants as a weapon and smash hordes of enemy soldiers.

You Never said it had to be video games :)

Was tempted to throw BF1942 or Age of Mythology up there, but I haven't played them since online community basically dissapeared.

I will bravely agree with you. Actually I couldn't get past the big screen with the rotating world. Dwarf fortress doesn't bother me though.

Oh sweet Beedorum, how did I fail to mention stalker.

I wish i could be good at Dwarf Fortress. I can get through the first year, set up basic farms and stuff. but its just so complex to do anything more than bedrooms, food, wood, etc. Going the next step into metal/military/etc. just scares me. So i don't do it and end up restarting and playing the farming sim over and over again.... =(

I can build a military and a prison, but for some reason I cant seem to detain people. However, most of the time my little community ends up drinking stagnant water and then they go crazy. After a while a poltergeist will show up and rip one of my managers legs off. :(

Eve is a cool game, I think. Though, while you don't generally have to deal with WoW's 8-year-old crowd, you do end up sometimes having to deal with a bunch of pretentious pseudo-intellectual cynics who feel that their ability to prosper in a fictional Ayn Rand's wet dream + spaceships environment is somehow evidence of their ability to... I don't know, the words escape me... like, their ability to survive in a harsh world. Like, they don't just feel smart, they feel like they know more about life than you sometimes. Like, you should have to climb a damn mountain to hear their wisdom, that kind of attitude. They forget they're in a comfortable chair, playing a game. Though I did meet some super cool folks in Eve. Also, in its favor, I think it has raised the bar for MMOs in a lot of ways. It's definitely not a theme park MMO. If you do something, it will have some sort of ripple effect. Good (Great, maybe?) sandbox game, though boring after awhile in my opinion.

Anyway...

1) Earthbound (If you ask me why, expect an essay in return.)

2) Metal Gear Solid (The first one. Maybe a bit melodramatic at times, but it had a pretty big effect on my childhood)

3) Dwarf Fortress (Super complex, fun, challenging, and dark. When your master chef who recently had a child falls into deep despair after being unable to create her master work, and all you can do is watch as she starves herself to death with her baby still in her arms. Or when you find an unaccounted for puddle of turkey blood on the floor. Oh, the stories!)

4) Katamari Damacy (Fun, simple, mindless joy at a glance, but under the surface, you are a deeply wounded protagonist with a father complex who is actually destroying the whole planet to please your dad and undo his drunken mistakes.)

5) 30 Flights of Loving (I guess. It's a neat little indie short that I thought was interesting.)

This list doesn't really look quite right to me, but it's all I could think of.

1. Planet side 2 or ARMA 2

2. sins of the solar empire trinity or wargame or KKND 2

3. Fallout series (2 or 3 probably my favorite) or mount and blade series (best is mount and blade with star wars conquest mod on).

4. League of Legends or EVE online

5. S.T.A.L.K.E.R call of pripyat (with misery mod on)

I suck at choices :(

Its not that hard, its more trial and error.
