I don't read a lot of books lately lol (except for that huge campbell for school).
I'm a manga otaku, I buy a lot of manga... have a whole wall at home covered with manga (that's over thousand volumes
).
I even had to make a custom bookshelf to fit the wall, didn't cost much (only one bandaged finger).

You should always proofread carefully to make sure you didn't any words out.
Need help? pm me or any other mod.

I must say they sound somewhat intressting, guess I can spend 18 dollars to give them a try.Kamos wrote:Well here recently I've been reading A Song of Ice and Fire. I absolutely love them to death although a Feast for Crows has had a few points that drag on.
Storm of Swords was the greatest however.

Just finished Witcher: The Last Wish, a fantastic collection of short stories from one of the most interesting fantasy worlds so far! Higly recommended for anyone liking the PC-game.

I'm currently reading some master edition of Sherlock Holmes book written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Over a thousand pages and more than 50 cases being solved by Holmes and Watson. I'm currently at the page 522
I'm a huge Holmes fan, gotta love books and TV shows about him. The new Hollywood movies about Holmes are just ruined with explosions, guns, weird stunguns/tazers, big machomans and underground satanists..

Read the entire Song of Ice and fire in the last year or so and it was great. Also done a lot of Raymond E Feist books. Plus of course the Wheel of Time series. But not a lot lately since I am living overseas and a book is just extra weight to take home.
Currently reading a textbook about the world in the next 100 years and what is likely to happen to economies and how regional powers are likely to develop. Pretty heavy stuff for the most part, but enjoyable none-the-less.

When was it published? have any of it's predictions between that date and now become realized?Blxz wrote: Currently reading a textbook about the world in the next 100 years and what is likely to happen to economies and how regional powers are likely to develop. I am quite intrigued
Was published in 2009 right after Obama got elected and the GFC smashed everyones faces in. I actually don't like it that much right now since as it's gone on it has become clear it is obviously a 'praise be to america' book, even though he stated in the foreword it may appear that way to the uneducated. The book spent about 3 pages saying the same statement over and over but rephrased slightly. Also apparently there is another cold war in the near future and Japan and Poland will start world war 3 which america will stop by launching high orbit space-marine drop-pods.
Its is getting a little fanatical but I quite want to get to the point were Turkey will re-create the ottoman empire. How he manages to justify that chapter has me really interested.
In short, I may be uneducated according to his foreword description but at least I am not a patriotic arse spewing propaganda onto the pages. (no offense to all the moderate americans out there, some of my best friends are american and they are hardly ever total douches
)
PS: Its a great book, I highly recommend you read it if you can find it.

That sounds a whole lot more probable than Poland and Japan (historically two nations that've been completely shafted in modern armed conflicts) starting WWIII, I mean, Turkey currently has the second largest armed forces in NATO (second to the US), and their troops are one HELL of a lot less widely dispersed around the globe.Blxz wrote:

They are also the worlds 17th largest economy I think. But the second they declared their manifest destiny they would shatter links with europe. No one would trade with them and considering their emphasis on entering the European Union I can't see why they would attempt this. On top of that you have Israel who would flat out reject any kind of Islamic super group. And america is more likely to back Israel than to back a new 'Ottoman' supergroup. Especially easy considering that they already have military forces stationed in the area.
This becomes even more improbable when you consider the Space Marine drop-pods the writer covered in the previous chapter.
Seriously though, the US would step in just to protect the Oil regions to the south regardless of ideology. And Russia would oppose them as well. In short, that kind of declaration would be political suicide.
