Yes Starship Troopers is Robert Heinlein's "classic" sci-fi novel, it's from the 60's or maybe it was the 50's even. I've always thought this book is overrated, i even prefer the movie over the book.

That's what I thought too, but you wouldn't believe how many think starship troopers ripped off starcraft

Is that book really not as good as the movies? I already thought the 2nd and 3rd movie were inferior to the first...

The majority thinks Heinlein's book is a true classic amongst sci-fi books, i just dont share that opinion. The movies after the first i don't even count, they're really horrible and have nothing to do with the book as i recall..

As I understand it, the third movie ripped the marauders from starcraft. At least they don't talk about Zergs...

Budget for the movies:
first and best one: $105 million
sec and worst : $7 million
third : $20 million

budget tells everything lol

There's also a Starship Troopers anime series, it's supposed to follow the book a bit better, havent seen it. And there's a CGI starship troopers movie too (imo not very good).

The 3rd "tried" to reach the atmosphere from the first movie and ricko is back in it, so it's way better than the 2nd...

In my opinion, watch only the first and 3rd one (the second has no returning characters). But don't expect to like the 3rd, it's strange at moments and some characters will get on your nerves really fast. But hey that's my opinion anyway

If I had known what I know now, I'd only watch the first movie. And the 3rd maybe while cleaning up the studio
