Game features, what should/shoudn't be.

Stuff that doesn't relate to the game itself

When should a game feature be added into a game, and how far should it go ?

I played Saints Row III, Deus-EX III and Skyrim recently and noticed that many of the recent titles contained combat cut-scenes. Normally cut-scenes are a good thing, like a reward for being bad@$$. But when it takes only one-two button clicks to unlock a cut-scene it takes away more than it adds. In order for me to unlock a combat cut-scene in saints row II I had to push multiple buttons at a certain speed, if I didn't I could freely control my characters actions. Sadly, when I played saints row III I only had to push one button to automatically unlock a cut-scene (the cut-scenes were cool, but I wasn't the one controlling it, I was just watching). When I played Oblivion I was in charge of my every swing.Skyrm wasn't too bad but I think the combat cut-scenes were far too frequent. I've knifed too many people in the gut with the Skyrim cut-scenes. I miss the good days where I can just pleasantly walk up to a guard.....and trip their sorry @$$ off a cliff. (And be the one to do it  ).

When I fight I want to play a game, not watch a movie.

Deus Ex wasnt to bad with cut-scenes, only thing i can think of was malee cut-scenes (Which i found dissapointing, i wanted for from malee in that game).

Skyrim cutscenes were a pain in the ass, but there is a mod to get rid of them i think.

I hope there isnt cut-scenes implemented in Kenshi, as cool as it may be I could see it getting annoying if you are fighting in mass armies.

I don't see how they could effectivly implement this in Kenshi if they wanted too. There is no "Main" character and so much going on during combat there wouldn't be much point. If you had 20 characters fighting which one would be granted the cut scene and how often? lol

It could be like in Shogun 2, which I personally would think is fine.

...
And I find it odd noone mentioned Fallout 3, almost the entire game your in cutscenes for each bullet you fire as fighitng without the pipeboy was very crippled.

If I recall, you can actually disable the critical hit cut-scenes for Fallout 3 (Or New Vegas, or both) in the options menu.

Bloody mess perk. Fun for first hour, then greatly annoying for rest of the game.

Nothing like hunting for just the right chunk of muddled meat.
