Next week's friday 13
Anyone superstitious?
Where did it even come from

i've read/seen da vinci code, but not sure if i have to believe the part about the reason for the fear for friday 13 being the manslaughter they talked about...
I hope chris doesn't wait until then to bring out the next update or we'll never see the end of the new bugs (we'll even call them f13 bugs

)

Friday the 13th just kind of appeared around the 1800's. I think my favorite excuse concerns the purge of the Knights Templar what with the curse the Grandmaster placed while being burned. I think within half a year the Pope and King responsible for the purge died suddenly.

Time to shine into your discussions, reader!
Truth is, it seems Friday the 13th only appeared in the 16-17 hundreds. The Templars still existed and had an enormous power, which didn't please one King of France. He sent a letter to his royal army and the seal read "open only on Friday, the 13th". When they did, they found the order to kill every Templar in France. And they did.*
So unless you're a templar you don't have anything to worry about, I guess.
*Some details might not be accurate. However, the general story remains: one king sends a letter to kill Templars on Friday the 13th.

The Templars were scrubbed out in the early 14th century. Quite some time before the thought even emerged, especially in writing. It's really something of a modern phenomenon that people randomly attached some significance to.

Much like the time 11.11 being special or lucky. Its only lucky in the sense that when you see it you can remember the last time you saw it. Personally, I see 10.52 very often. And the phrase "its only 7 kilometers" plagued me during my pilgrimage. We attach significance wherever we can easily remember it. (and humans are hardwired to see patterns in things)
Although having said that I like odd stories being attached to random days and events and I much prefer hearing the templar excuse than some other random scientific mumbo-jumbo about patterns and random numbers.

I know someone who was married on 6/6/2006.
Random number patterns would be kinda boring. There is a Norse myth that if you are eating with thirteen people, one of them is going to die. The myth involves 12 Norse gods feasting and the arrival of Loki as number 13. (So don't eat with 13 people on a Friday if you consider yourself a Viking

)

Ohh yeah, the 13th floor. In Japan, 4 can be read as 'death' (and to a lesser extent 9 also). So some buildings don't have a 4th floor. Its pretty weird but then I guess that disproves the fact of any actual negative. It depends on culture I guess.

In my Japanese class, many students actually preferred to say yon instead of shi for that reason.*
Literally for that reason, not the whole Kunyomi vs Onyomi thing.

The yomi can be difficult at first. Feels natural after a while though. I don't think there is any major superstition about it though. Except that one of my friends was shocked that I lived in apartment 904. The rent was cheaper than all the others, I don't see the issue with it.

haha. If the rents better why not?

if you go to a restaurant and are seated on table number 13, ask for a better price
But seriously, there are tons of things like that, like seeing a black cat cross a road (i think), walking under a ladder or smash a mirror (although i see someone who would scowl at me for that one

:shudders:)

9 hour....? Wow, that's an intensive class. I am not sure I could handle anything for 9 hours (except apparently my DS says I played harvest moon for that long once.....don't judge me

)
Good luck.

I hate assassins creed too but am not a templar. Game one was way too repetitive. And I never bothered with any of the later ones since unfortunately its hard to get a decent review these days due to fanboi's.

Simple review on the Assassins creed series ....
Assassins creed 1 - too repetitive, Assassins creed 2 - big improvement on 1, less repetitive and added many more game mechanics and a compelling story. The other two were just adding a shiny new thing on to Assassins creed 2 and moving the buildings around and calling it a new city. (I know they were for the story (which was good) but it wasnt worth making more games for).
And im not sure what to think about the new one coming out. Im not a fanboy or anything and wouldnt buy them myself ( My brother buys them and i'll use his copy ) but i have finished them all and enjoyed them for the most part.
In other words the only Assassins creed game you should play is 2 and thats if your bored and havnt played it before.

I played nr1... still havn´t completed it, I got bored of the game like 5 times now, doing the same things over and over make me put it on a shelf..and GOD I HATE THE WATER! you cant swim and ofc every mental disturb person is walking around there just waiting to push you into the water... to kill you... and you not allowed to kill them, bah... they can be way more deadly than the pathetic soldiers... AND WHY IN HELL DO I NEED TO COUNTER ATTACK EVERYTHING?!!! GOSSH!...
I never feel like a assassin.. I feel like a mass murderer.
Also anyone understand what I mean with this? "Your not praying you must be the murderer!" ?
I didn´t play nr 2, but I played the expansions to it, gosh... what was the point of those games? have your own sim game? buy stores, get more cash, buy more, get more... have more advanced way of killing, but heck barely even have to do it myself, all I need to do is whistle and point and I have my own army of assassins doing the deeds for me meanwhile I seduce the nearby girls and having a fatty running along with me that will give me a critically failure if the guards spot me with him... but the girls protect me from being spoted and the assassins clears the path for me... and I keep walking not caring. I wanted a game, not a city tour along with whistle lessions.
Also is it me or is actually Assassin biggest flaws beside being way to easy to be fitted into the main stream of console players the bad controll when platforminging + lack of stealth?
No im not gonna get the third one, I dont give a cent about it. but probably will end up playing it sometime when a friend comes over with it. but that about it.
