So since there has been swamp biome screen posted on the FB I thought it would be a good time to post my thoughts on what I would like to see in the area.As the game has a post=apocalyptic feel to it, it should have sunken/destroyed cities. This add the ability for players to search through buildings to find rare loot(blueprints weapons armor) from an era long since destroyed. No this does not mean super advanced armor with force fields and whizzing balls that block attacks just that it adds armor that was designed by the military or private sectors to provide superior defense or assault. Also this could add the ability to have a hidden base from the basements or subways in the cities. It could add new faction/mob types to the game that are only found in this area that are stronger and smarter that defend these highly sought out areas and items.I plan on adding more to this as it comes to mind.

First remark, Kenshi is not a post-apocalyptic setting. It is an original environment that will contain several unique biomes.

I do like the idea of sunken cities in the swamps, but I also like the idea of native tribes adapting to the swamp and building their structures on stilts or even using trees to support their buildings.
Here is an image of a house on the bayou in Louisiana for reference:

I'm certain Chris has plans for currently existing factions, and ones that will exist in the future, to intermingle with each other across biomes, either violently or non-violently.
That's not saying there won't be one, or more, factions that will exist solely within the swamp biome.
I just thought of a cool swamp faction that could be inspired by the Mud Runner, or any other equivalent, organization, since they're extremely athletic and could, more than likely, live in a swamp if forced to do so.

I've seen the requests for "hidden bases" before, and I honestly don't like the idea.
If a player so chooses to build their base in such a manner that they don't want to be bothered by bandits or other indigenous people/creatures, then just move into the city where you can be protected by guards, walls, and gates.
I don't think Cheyenne Mountain is something that should be possible in Kenshi, else it would just be another Dwarf Fortress all over again (and we know just how many variants there are already).

In the future when resources are placed at fixed nodes, I believe oil, salt, and clay should be common in the swamp biome.
Swamps are normally too humid and wet to allow dirt (there's mostly shifting sand and silt underneath all the water) to compact densely enough to become stone (in addition, iron ore is almost non-existent), but clay and wood are plentiful in the area and can be used as a substitute for building materials.

The game is post-apocalyptic as it fits with the building styles and clothing. I was not basing this on the desert but the total outlook on the game. The mine, processors, generators etc have a art style that reminds me of borderlands which was post-apocalyptic.The clothing and armor are in a few instances crudely patched together which is another sign of post-apocalyptic genre. I did not base my judgement that it was post-apocalyptic off of the desert biome but off of the entire feel of the game that is currently present.

How is this possible when the desert is the only biome currently present? o.O
The majority of armour currently present looks more inspired by the desert rather than trying to define the environment of the entire world.
I remember reading in a post long, long ago that the art for structures, and other art assets, are not 100% finished because Chris is more of a programmer than an artist.
At any rate, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I've beholden far too many post-apocalyptic games to want another one. :p

I totally understand what you mean but I love the post-apocalyptic genre there is so much that can be done with it. Also I dont see someone wearing heavy plate mail in the desert unless expecting to melt inside of it.

There have been several instances in history of camel cavalry being just as armoured as the European cataphracts.
Its just a manner of what clothing is worn underneath the heavy plate to prevent the armour from becoming a sarcophagus. :P

I will give you that one but, we do not have camels or horses in kenshi. Heavy armor on foot is a lot different then heavy armor mounted. Also you have to remember they road from watering hole to watering hole to stay cool.

Then I pitch to you how did the Vikings survive winters with little more than fur and leather. :p
I'm sure the weight of the armour will be taken into account once survival aspects are implemented, and weather may also have a huge factor as well.
