Just a simple item to build in your settlement to change where your squad will "reset" (when marked "Reset Squad Position"). For people like me - that imported the game more than 40 times - this is a HUGE deal. It's f!@#$% annoying have to walk every single import to your base again and again and again and again - can be a loooong and annoying way.

Can't you just leave a guy behind in your base so you can use him to recall your group? That's what I usualy do.

You don't have to reset your position every time that you import.

And importing shouldn't be a tool to be used to "hey I'm too far from my base and I'm too bored to walk there, so let me just import and POOF I'm at my base again".

But I am curious as to why do you reset your position so many times?

If unchecked, the cities where my NPC's are close or in do not reset properly sometimes (so I check it every single time to avoid problems later).

The 40 times example is about my main game save - Imported 20-30 times to "cut" the save and improve general performance (I'm around day 1200 in the game) and another 20 because Experimental, Mods and general testing. Tinking a bit was over 60 imports...

The main reasons:
(1) Technically, the biggest problem with the game start to show up between day 30 and 100. Game start to take to long to save (10sec freeze to save the game), general performance start to goes down hill (and man, my PC setup is not the issue), backups take to much space. I just reset and the game is all good again - why stress when I have a fix build in the game?

(2) Bugs: Serious, just as a example, by day five I had five factions in three cities exterminated by the old and the new bugs. The same save I imported 4 times and was not even 20 in-game days - a solo gameplay in the desert.

EDIT: [(3) Maybe another technical issue, but if unchecked, the cities where my NPC's are close or in do not reset properly sometimes (so I check it every single time to avoid problems later).]

But I guess you are right, it does sound like a "cheat" item. It can be exploited for sure - just put it in the "creative menu", inaccessible by normal means and GG. Seams like no one understand that I want to reset people to the place they are, not a tool for "teleportation".

Simply importing with tech and buildings is enough..

What do you mean? It's possible to reset the whole squad to whereabouts of a specific character?

And how would that work? Resetting position is really nothing more then a simple teleport to another, default position where your characters will presumably and hopefully be not stuck and well, in case they're stuck or unwell. It shouldn't affect anything else.

I'm thinking it would be unwise to mess with coordinates around squad's current position, since they might end up in a situation worse then that they were in prior.

No, but yes. It depends on which reset option you're using.

If you are importing the game from a save file to "reset the world" then it's not possible. This kind of squad reset will put your character somewhere that I don't think we can influence, at least I have no idea how to.

But if your just resetting squad positions with a load game then it is possible. This version of a squad reset will always reset all your characters in the center of the screen position it was in while it was being saved. Therefor, if you keep a character around in the location where you want to "teleport" your squad to, then you can simply switch your view to that character, place the center of your screen in the location you want your squad to end up, and save your game, then load that save to reset your squad there.

It's the lazy mans way to save yourself a lengthy return trip back home. You can also use it to hop your squad into places they shouldn't be, or past security measures, or give the middle finger to walls or impassable terrain features. I wouldn't recommend playing the game this way though, it's just plain cheating.

Oh, i've had that once! Didn't paid a slightest attention to what has happened then, so had no idea that i am "some kind of mad wizard" after all, and can do stuff :D

But wait, doesn't that effectivelly eliminates Kwik's issues?

Should then be as easy as to pick one unit, send them somewhere far from town, save without switching focus from that fellow, load with reset squad position, save, import w\o resetting. Ta-da! A bit time consuming, but should to the trick.

I don't know. Maybe. I don't know if the two kinds of resetting have the same effect on the game. That's something he'll have to test himself.

I guess this sentence was weird. To make a "full" import resetting the whole world property you need to (1) unload all the cities you current have people in or (2) reset squad position on import. I already had several issues with "loaded" imported cities (missing NPC's, inventories, vendors having no inventory, new buildings not showing up, and several others - one of the biggest being the fact that loaded cities are targets - bugs and NPC's - and will be wiped out if you play with squad size and nest numbers to high like me) and all issues are gone when I first hit the "reset squad position". Now add this fact to a base on the Leviathan Coast and you have a huge annoyance.

At least the option should reset your people to the vicinity of your biggest city, or let you choose a quadrant. The problem is not the people outside the base being reseted - they gonna need to walk back to their original position. The problem is the 20 people in the base that have to return crossing the whole map at an annoying slow pace that need food and preparation. And I guess there is no "situation" when resetting like this because you chose the place.

(stuff)
You got me completely lost, mate :) I get it that you're having issues when importing without resetting your squad position, because it somehow messes up the place they're currently at, right?

Then you say you'd like them to be resetted to where they currently are, and not some middle of nowhere, but that can cause weirdness, just like no resetting at all, which i simply pointed out. Besides, such action doesn't even make much sense to me :)

Then, i believe Vandala has just given you a somewhat decent solution. Just move your guys away from major cities to unload them, and then import without resetting position. You can safely ignore your homebase in this case, everything should go well.

In my memory, you're the first one reporting any problems with importing w\o resetting position. I've never heard it causing any troubles to anyone, to the point when at a certain time someone even asked to reverse the default checks on import (reset position unchecked, all else checked) because they saw no use in it. I myself have never used it, even though there were several cases when i had to import without leaving the city, and usually i'm importing from my base, which is in the vicinity of some Holy Village. Fair notice though: i'm playing vanilla.

Then again, i'm not denying your issues, they always suck, and to be honest, i'd like to see some more default positions across the map, and squad being resetted to a closest one. We've got alot of barren wastelands with no possible mesh issues whatsoever, so there gotta be alot of "safe, far-from-towns spots"
