on dead that's very normal. it usually requires people to physically close the eyes of the dead as they naturally stay open.
not sure on the unconscious part.

then would have to find out what it would take to code it in as it's not in the game. and would need textures for it.
then how difficult would this be to add?
even if it sounds simple it might not be.

Well, as we're talking in hypotheticals, it might very well be simple, & easy to implement. More importantly; it's undoubtedly simpler when compared to a landslide majority of other features within the game, or those therein proposed.
But I digress, please note, I'm not stating it's a necessity - please avoid taking my suggestion(s) as demand(s). Just expressing my thoughts to consider, dependent on workload, player satisfaction & developer interest - no farcical demands of adding planetary expansion from me
Great thing is, if it is indeed, hypothetically small, it's a minor addition that compliments the complete ensemble that Kenshi is, providing that finishing touch of polish to an already amazing-in-the-making product.

This is possible not to hard to implement it but for this need animated eyes and differ the eyes from the rest of the head. It would be nice a slider for eyes and more eye variety since it is easy to implement and no need to make 3d living eyes only some painted. Also for more eyes just enough some image manipulator program like gimp, photoshop, paint.net etc. Then you can add different and more eyes only thing you need to animate them to act like normal eyes with some move and blinking.

adding eyes would also have an impact on the game's performance.

That is true but if the eyes just "paints" then it could not be too drastical. If we talk about simple textures which separated from the head mesh. If the eyes 3d and used a sphere there then it could be a little bit higher needs but it should not be that performance eater than other stuffs.Hatsune_Neko wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 4:54 pmadding eyes would also have an impact on the game's performance.
If the cheapest solution helps then simply just need more face variations or / separate the eye and turn into be choosable. That is not that huge work I guess but myself will take a look on it when have time to check it on blender.

you also need to write the coding for eye movement. it isn't the textures that's the issue, it's the coding involved.
the Devs have also removed several bones from the character models to improve performance, adding two more back is going in the wrong direction, plus the processor time needed for the eyes.
it's a nice idea but kenshi's engine is limited.
plus the Dev has already pretty much said no to the idea awhile ago.
can hope for it in the next game they decide to make after finishing Kenshi sometime in the Q1 of 2018
then they will have proper access to a good engine, instead of building it from scratch like with Kenshi.

They could do it later on a kenshi 2 or an ecnahnced edition but I am afraid Lofi is not capable to do that because it is a small dev team. If I would have a spare 10-15 million dollar to boost the process but sadly I haven't that amount. I have some dev studios and teams what I would like to boost up but there is no funds for it from my part.Hatsune_Neko wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2017 5:48 pmyou also need to write the coding for eye movement. it isn't the textures that's the issue, it's the coding involved.

So the game is written in ogre engine or it is an other custom build?
If the engine not capable then I'll try to compensate this thing with adding new faces with eyes.

it was upgraded to Ogre 2.0 which doesn't have multithreading support. but 2.1 does.
but the base engine is still the one the Dev created.

So basically an in house engine. Not that bad and still capable to do so much but I can imagine it on a better engine but of course if they were a large company then this game could be a much more popular one but still cool work and they did it well.Hatsune_Neko wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2017 8:17 pmit was upgraded to Ogre 2.0 which doesn't have multithreading support. but 2.1 does.

yea
he made his own before off the shelf game engines become readily available. which has boosted the indie game scene by a huge amount. for good and sometimes for bad as well.
