Yeah, that won't be bad to constantly see region names on the map at some zoom level. Although, it'd practically give away the exact location of most wanted criminals, which will take half of the fun out of it.
It would be nice to not have to figure out what area is what area. Perhaps there is a hover tool tip that gives off relevant data of the area on the map, though only if discovered. It would also be nice to be able to make notes or place markers. I often scout for alt outpost locations and it would be nice to even place a marker in game and labeling it would be icing on the cake.
I agreed, is very nice to be discovering the regions step by step without knowing what is coming next. Is one of the greatest features of the game. But it will be nice to have the names of the regions write on the map if they are discover. Or at least if a percentage of the region is discover you can see the name of the area.

The map could use more interactivity. The ability to add points, markers, and labels to the map ourselves would be more fitting to the game design philosophy, I think rather than having these things automatically filled in.
Personally, I'd be happy if Maps needed to be obtained for a small price. Imagine starting a game as "Rock Bottom" and not actually knowing where you are until you reach a town and manage to scramble enough cats to pay for a map. Maybe that's just masochistic, though...
