So lately i've been thinking:
The most experience should be earned by defeating opponent that is stronger than you witch is already in the game... "sparing" not a feature?

What I mean by that is have 2 of your party members

[Shiro] and [Kuro]
spar against each other so they can get their lvl.1 skill to lvl.5?
like the training dummies but ... either for free since you started with more than 1 member or (the cost of the party member since you recruited him)
And it will be slower to train than with a "training dummie" and you will be able to train not only untill you reach 25? or the max of the best dummie.

I don't think it will make "training dummies" useless if added it will just be alternative way of training safely... and realistically!

here are some of my other thoughts... :D

Can't it be so that the sparing has a kind of "soft cap?" at least. Like giving you only a flat sum of exp. instead of scaling as the normal fighting (I am not really sure about this sorry if i'm wrong)... or "reverse" scaling so that the "harder" you train against your teammates the more useless it becomes and it's only usefull so you don't get ***** at your first day from a group of starving bandits... :D like getting you up to lvl "10 ?" a bit faster compared to normal fighting... and it will be actually harder to do than normal fighting since:
1-st. you use energy to fight!
2-nd. the more energy you loose faster you get hungry. (pretty sure i have read that on some patch note recently!)
3-rd. fighting your teammates wouldn't give you food (or anything other than exp.) like fighting a simple single dog is not only bordering stupid/insane (for a young/weak character) but it gives you food so you don't starve to dead!

The training system if we can call it that way is not just going to be easy way to fame and glory... it can make the gameplay itself harder than without using it since you will not be fighting for food... not that anyone is really fighting for it all that much once you get "stable economy" but seeing how the AI can do all the thing (or atleast most of) a player can
it will make sence to have the AI bandit camps and cities and fortress have like... training hours... like 06:00 to 07:00 in the morning the Police is on it's morning practice in the "arena/station" so it will be easier to steal from certain places... or break out one of your rooky "wanna-be-ninja" :D and the AI bandits and everyone "NO WILDLIFE ofcourse" will be able to spar among themselves and you will see in camps and cities how there are someone training and what not...

that would CERTAINLY breathe in more "life" into the game and make it so that everyone is kind of concerned for their lifes and want to be capable of defending themselves... or someone they "care" about!

Yeah... I know that may not be the thing that the game needs at this moment but is it a thing that will eventually be added into the game?

Thank you for taking your time reading this!
Sorry if there are some small misspells... :D

Great idea. I would set the cap around 15 or so. Sparring is just a logical thing in terms of become a good fighter.

The idea is great. It could be a mean to train defence up to 15, for instance, thus both training dummies and sparring would be usefull, and our guys could be like:

- I know kung-fu...
-... Show me.

Could be that sparring lets the less-skilled character reach up to 80% of the more-skilled characters skill level. So you can't just get secluded in the middle of nowhere and rank up ridiculously, but on the other hand a new character can be pretty safely brought up to par with the rest of them given enough time.

Plus it makes for cool skilled senseis.

Absolutely. The thing is, however, that sensei will level up too, and i imagine their skill will climb up pretty rapidly, so you might end up having one characters with 100 skills, and 29 others with 75-ish. I don't know if there possibly is a way around it.

I've also heard multiple times that Captain doesn't want players to sit and chill on their bases, thus we only have dummies for up to 15 in attack, and nothing else.

sparing aka a type of dojo is planed, but looks like it wont be added until after release. as i can not confirm the Devs are working on it
and levels im sure would be set to a max of lvl 15, just like on training dummies.
Do you believe the sexes should be equal?

Then Men would become unmanageable

Bah! I totally forgot about planned dojo-like things! Let's hope they won't be imbalanced and will come out eventually. I imagine they should not only train attack and defence but also strenght and toughness and whatnot, just like a real fight, but not all the way up. Like maybe 20 max.

It would be lovely if the lvl to reach depends on the lvl of the Master, being this one of our guys with the permanent work on the dojo. That would make the training dummies still a thing to grow in early stages while you should use the dojo in your base (or main city) in order to reach the higher level possible for your non-combatant citizens.

Originally the talk was that you would train in the dojo up to the level of the highest one training. So yeah you could have a master swords person training your new recurits. Don't know if that is still the plan though.
