New Maps?

Once you start out the game, you spawn in a plain, dull, desert.. What I am suggesting is there to be new maps that you can explore by getting to a harbor and sailing there, or going past a border.
-new areas ingame-
-harbours- take a ship to distant land, or buy/make your own boat! and possibly fish?
-Borders- The end of the map, you must pay a toll to cross, or you can sneak past the guards who are patroling.
-Temples- ever want to have that indiana jones experience? Temples would be great! and would hold ALOT of loots. Just be careful where you step...
-new maps-
-Ocean- where Pirates and sea life roam. You can find islands, mostly already inhabited, but you could claim one for yourself too!
-Woodland- The grass is green and the farm soil is fertile! also a good area to possibly hunt? or even tame horses or pack mules? maybe even have a farm? also the dangers are slightly less because it is way harder for those pesky bandits to see you in the tall grass. but watch out, grass ninjas use this grass as an advantage.
-Plains- Just like a desert but alot greener. Many wildlife creatures would roam this land, also maybe some hostile creatures like coyotes?
-Badlands- a very darkened area. No towns for miles. A giant volcano would be at the center of the map, and bandits would roam free there.
Thank you for everyone who reads this! It would be nice if you post suggestions here too

To me, this sounds like expansion material for when the game is already in a complete form, though I'm not sure. Sounds fun, though it might not fit in with the Kenshi experience. Something about the barren monotony of the desert seems to define the whole feel for me right now, and if options were added, it might make the whole situation less desperate and psychologically engaging. Might make good eye candy, but it could be bad for the psycho-socio-political feel. Depends on the backstory of the game too. I kind of like the idea of adding a Badlands area though. That one might fit, and I like the idea of a really rough, barely survivable area of nefarious goings on, where people are afraid to go. Like, a dark spot on the map. Reminds me of the elephant graveyard in the Lion King, hehe.

The desert is just one of many biomes. Doesnt make that much sense to expand it yet though, more gameplay elements needs to be worked on first.. including more maps will up the size of the download tremendously too.

Almost certain that I read somewhere the map(s) could and would eventually be dynamically created, IF Chris got enough money to do so. Having the game map end up like Warband:M&B where it's always the same would eventually get rather boring. A dynamic terrain and city generator would be key for replayability and keeping people entertained.

You pose a valid point, BUT given Kenshi's map is already huge, and the finished map was said to be 4x larger...even if it was one map that you replayed on I think it would still be a good game. But if dynamic maps were created heck i'd rather go with that haha. Just saying, I've put like 100+ hours on Warband and am still on the same game file

I personally have lately started to like anything randomly generating. Every time I open the game, it feels as exiting as it was the first time playing because everything is new and you never know what lies beyond the horizon.
My suggestion is, that the basic map we have now, would be the same. But the world wouldn't have any edges, outside of the map would be new, randomly generated areas/towns/people. The map we have now is great and I want it to stay, but exploration would never stop. Because there is always new stuff outside.

Afaik the world will remain the same. Only the cities will be procedurally generated. In the finished game you should have the same favourite dunes on each playthrough, but cities will be unique each time. Thats how i understood the whole concept

Don't worry.

There will be more. It has been said many times.

There will be just more than a desert, there will be swamps, woodlands, plains, rocky landscapes, volcanoes, oceans, mountains and a s***load of islands to form one huge archipelago. However, there won't be rideable animals, but I think that they can be tamed though. So you should stick to that.
