you should add ex-veteran warriors who just wander around the map for no particular reason, and also add some who may be willing to teach you if you fulfill certain parameters such as:
One will train those who only slay innocents.
One will train only those who have defeated say a hundred men single handedly.
One will train only those willing to pay a fortune.
One will train only he who has lost both limbs.
And so and and so forth. It would also be cool if each individual wanderer had their own specific faction relationships. So say you saw 2 factions fighting, this bad ass mysterious stranger might come in and provide aid.
If you've played games like Way of the Samurai, or seen shows like Samurai Champloo and Ruroni Kenshin then you know what I mean by Mysterious Wandering samurai.
One thing that really be cool is if each of these wanderers had their own separate objectives. Stuff you could even ask them about.
And I realize all of this would come much later in development, like fleshed out NPC dialogue and the like, but it would be cool to come upon one of them and just follow them around and if they decide to let you stay and not kill you (based off some values) eventually you become THEIR companion. (That would be sick!) and eventually they may tell you their goals like "
"I'm on a journey of revenge, I must slay <XXXNPC> of <XXXVILAGE/TOWN> to avenge my fallen brothers. He betrayed us to the <XXXXX/FACTION>. I have been spared from death to bring justice to his doorstep."
It would be pretty cool to see how each npc completes complicated tasks. Which may or may not be implemented but should be strongly considered.
One other thing that I hope is considered are more variations in building types. And multi-storied buildings, like castles with multiple floors.
Well thats it.
