Killing enemies while they are unconsious.

I would love to see this in game, I hate the fact that I can't kill enemies when their down so they just keep popping up. It may not be very chivalrous but, I think it'd be nice to have.

I wouldn't mind this feature, and it is something that went through my mind when i first started playing - so probably new players will have the same thought. It probably wouldn't be that hard to implement - just a right click menu option to 'coup de grace'. That said, I think I got used to not having it, and it's not very high on my personal wish list.

Yes, but would you want your enemies to do the same to you?

That the thing guys, remember anything you can do the AI is supposed ot be able to do too in theory, we aren't playing anyone special or exempt from the rules.

I was thinking once prisoner taking was done they would either capture OR kill you. Either way as long as you know when to run you shouldn't get killed.

good points all, but i doubt you would care enough to go around killing every single person unless it benefited you. i can see this being handy if your base is attacked. i say this would be a good feature as long as other possibilities are not out of the question, such as being looted or captured. as it stands conflict just doesn't seem that DANGEROUS. i mean you lose. so what? you probably wont die- and if you do it will take a while. this could add the immediate sense of danger

I'm kind of torn on this one. On one hand it seems odd that I can't attack my enemy, that I know will soon rise and attack me, even though I have a weapon and they're lying there motionless. On the other hand, I just find watching the injured guys rise up and limp off or run away quite entertaining.

Than there's the fact that I know Kenshi is suppose to be quite a brutal game and losing my characters to an ill thought out fight seems very fitting. But death seems sort of boring in some ways compared to the brutal possibilities of surviving a failed battle, such as having to crawl all the way too an outpost with no legs.

The only way i see a solution to my conflicted view point on this topic is some sort of balance that would give both the player faction and NPFs a pragmatic reason not to kill an opponent that doesn't feel artificial. What that balance would be, I cannot think of anything good.

Having said that, if attacking downed opponents becomes a thing, I would like to see the following options;
- Kill (duh)
- Maim (sort of messued up I know)
- Disable
- Unbandage (ok maybe I have issues...)

"Maim"
Dismember either the legs or arms, legs seems to make more sense to me, but maybe the player could choose.

"Disable"
Similar to maim but only inflicts the most possible amount of damage that can be done without permanently wounding that soldier.

"Unbandage"
Undoes the bandaging process in reverse, from the legs first to blood last. Medical supplies cannot be obtained in this manner and is purely to slow down the rate of your opponents recovery. It would be a much quicker proccess than bandaging and isn't affected by the field medic skill.

If u find enemies waking up a problem taking their weapons usually does the trick. But yes killing downed enemies should be an option.

I do not like finishing moves in this case. If bandits could do that to the player the early game would be to difficult for many players, and other options provide more interesting play.

I think that characters should either bleed out, or be bandaged and sold to slavery...or some other not immediately lethal threat. Having a squad of mine being captured by slavers could start off a whole chain of spontaneous quest as I try to retrieve my lost members. You find out where they were attacked, you track their attackers, you defeat attackers, rescue survivors, track down sold members... It is a lot more interesting to me than having them 'deathblowed' and stripped. Its not like you have to rescue them, you try to rescue them because recovering a fraction of them is better than training replacements.

There are other ways to dispose of bodies in the game already. You can place them in a prisoner cage, or carry them outside the gates. (Now, crucifixion or crow cages is another matter.)

Don't forget this could be only on hard mode, once the game's fleshed out more if the dev makes difficulty levels, execution could only be possible on the hardest mode.

I'm sorry, but this is something that NEEDS to be implemented, a Death Blow.

To those who say anything players can do NPCs can do, well, yeah. Obviously I don't have to kill them, well NPCs don't NEED to kill me either. Thugs just want to rob you, so you have that set. Next thing is how much they HATE you, so if they HATE you, they'll kill you. (Request, cut heads off and put them on stakes!!)

I'm holding a sword, I just cut someone up and they are bleeding out. 95% of times, over time they get up and start walking again... Everyone must be wolverine in these times, because I don't care who you are, without any medical attention especially with all the rusty blades running around, you shouldn't be able to get up... at all.

The one thing that strikes me about the idea of an execution or coup de grace is that it is very, very dishonourable. In a game about swordfights, especially Japanese-inspired swordfights of all things, I would think these people simply can't even draw the mental connection that it is possible to kill someone who is down, no more than a westerner can willingly choose to defecate in his pants, because it is so generally despicable as to be unthinkable.

Instead, the only thing that needs to happen here is the AI needs to be made a little smarter. If you regain consciousness after having been chopped down to size, the smartest move is to run for the hills, and the AI should do the same.

That's a very good point. Perhaps Killing a downed enemy could result in a loss of reputation with all the factions that are friendly/neutral towards that faction? Perhaps it could even include a reputation loss with factions that are even enemies with the person you executed providing that their relationship isn't too bad (say less than -30)?

That would give both the player faction and NPF's a reason not to do it, without it being entirely impossible to do. It could also open up some different play styles, depending on how much you care about what other factions think of you (which if you want to trade would be quite a bit, if you're independent from trade, not so much).

Even the bandit factions would be cautious about executions, lest the other bandit factions begin to hate them because of it.

This thread has come about quite a few times, and it usually ends in "allow executions but give reputation penalties for killing an enemy while down.

On the AI side, the more they hate you the more likely they should be to kill you while down. AI factions who also hate you would give a smaller reputation penalty to the faction that killed you while down. This goes for all factions. This kind of thing should be on par with how hated the cannibals will be, i assume.

For more detail, separate types of reputation could be implemented. There could be an "honor" rating in addition to specific reputation for each faction. it seems suitable. This would allow two big empires such as the holy empire and united cities to have a very hateful warring relationship but some degree of respect where they arent killing eachothers soldiers. And this sort of strategy makes sense, while they do want to win out over eachother, by agreeing to not kill eachother's downed soldiers they allow themselves more strength retention just in case a third faction wants to get involved.

I imagine an important part of the AI deciding to execute or not would be to check the value of your characters' bounty to their faction. They wouldn't want to execute someone who's worth significantly more alive rather than dead.

Watched a documentary where they examined skeletal remains, finishers were used in feudal japan. Thrust into the groin region at an angle that suggested that it was to finish a downed man.
