Forbidden cities and arenas

One idea for where to get the best technology would be have a forbidden city faction. they can sell you high tech in exchange for either a lot of food/liquor, or doing hard bounty hunter quests for them. This would add to the Asian theme to the game, and maybe add a villain/neutral faction.
also fighting arenas would be a good addition. You could build training/death match arenas where you can train your guys by having them fight each other, while taking npc money through gambling. This would also add a use for letting the players build cages, so that they can capture starving bandits/other factions and then have them fight to the death in the arena.

Chris the developer has stated that arenas and tournaments are a planned thing, but not right now. That'll have to come at a later date.
As for the former, well, how much I like this idea depends on your idea of what constitutes "High Tech". If you're talking robotics or anything that requires complex moving parts or even electricity, then I'm against that idea. If it's extremely high quality weapons and armour, along with expert or master trainers to help you improve skills faster, then I'd be all for that.

In I believe the city Heft, there is what appears to be a pit with an unfinished gladiator arena being built in it.

I was talking about the later. I do not know what the back story is for this world. For all i know it could be after the roboaplycpse, or this could be survivors from a crashed prison ship. If they survived A robot revolution, then i would see people really hating robots. This of course would make stray robots a good bad guy choice. Or this could be some really original sci fantasy themed world. All i know, is that having read dune, i do NOT want sandworms. sandworms would be a bad idea.

i think this game has such huge potential so why not make it all that..
some distant place to learn chi and with it the ability to bend nature to your will .
huge elite monsters that need very very high lvl squad to win and of course epic rare loot for crafting ultra super cool stuff
if theres archers going to be implemented the why not kunai & shuriken and with that said , why not guns all together. defence factor high enough and team could dflect bullets with blades. i dont know urghaa im just so super excited about this game
and the sci fi elements . would be cool to venture into a bustling still left from the old world dome what features mecha fighting. craft own mecha and fight till scrap or loads of money.

The ideas ur thinking bout seem awesome :p buuuut Chris has decided to not implement any fantasy or Sci-Fi features, he wants to make a very realistic type game, soo yeah fantasy is out of the question hahaha

but do not be saddened by this fact

since he's going to make this game so frikin awesome! Haha

arenas sound like a good idea having one guy in charge picking 2 random prisoners (or 2 selected ones from cage) to fight to the death the winner gaining his "freedom" (until his captured again) and reporting back to his faction the horrors he faced.
but am i the only one who wants to see holy nation leader and sand ninja leader fight it out to the death after i've imprisoned em both.

You do know that that makes you more evil then pretty much all slave owning societies in history right? Arena / slave owners tried to never let their slaves die. You should watch Sparticus when you get the chance. In that movie a hedonistic senator orders an arena owner to make his slaves fight to the death, and it ends up causing a full-on revolt.

that would be awesome too, either way.
butchering a peasant/slave/gladiator revolt from time to time, the best training is for my soldiers and the town-guard to take on a group of highly-skilled killers after all.
