I just read in a post of alternative combat of how a few bandit bodies would be good to keep enemies away. I would love to see this, just a large pile or as they said crucified bandits. This would be wonderful to keep a settlement safe.

This may also be used to help raise relations with those such as the holy empire and the imperial lords. The sight of dead enemies would make them think things such as "These people are strong, perhaps we can stay here and be offered protection for a short while."

I think it'd encourage trade more often as well! Those caravans can be huge or small so I'm sure a safe looking area would attract more business!

And with the more enemies, they'd start to rot no? This would be a negative to your relations and your people's moral itself. The closer and more exposed to the decaying bandits people are, the more disgusted and possibly angrier they get. [Angry over the fact they have to see/smell it]

So it'd give a reason to replace bodies, throw them into a spare well [haha] and to keep killing to get more bodies! And now all the bandits have to be dead! You can chain them up and force them to wander around the settlement, loiter outside of the buildings as pathetic human beings and even sell them off! See? A slave system right there too! So much potential!

The slaves are a cheap labor, poorer work at researching but better at farming, mining and processing ores. Also will the wells and any kind of manual labor. Perhaps building too? And you can set some survivors as overseers to keep them on track!

A fully running, scary settlement to bandits and ninjas, parading dead bodies or live slaves, and easy labor and meatshields!

The slaves would also be good for one sided training, give them a rusty katana and set them to block, scale up your attack and if they die, oh well go find another starving bandit! The resource is renewable, the money is there to be gained and you can become your own warlord of some settlement known as death to bandits and ninja and anyone else you don't like! Heck you could sell the bodies to other settlements to help them deter attacks! More money!

Slavery is a planned feature already.

About the other part, it will depend if there will be a Moral "bar", it would be a way to "interact" with it, not sure the right words for what i want, but well is a good idea if this ones would be inserted, tho may not all factions might like the sight of cadavers, some might apreciate, others making no diffeence, and others might even think a crime, i guess the traders would rather be in this, as they might rather think, "This people are savages we cannot go in this place." and just ditch out at the sight of them, afraid they might become on more to the colection.

Ah great point! I guess I didn't fully think it through. But yeah, a deterrent to even those you don't want to harm would be a nice feature, trying to balance what you want to do. Maybe the sight of slaves would deter them then? Them being the hostiles. While attracting traders who may want to buy them. The dead bodies deterring nonmilitary factions though!

Or even due to other reasons such as honor or simply humanitary, they might don t mind the wars but think unhumain to treat humans like animals, there a lot of options while building the factions and so on, that s another thing which makes this game great.

I for one am rather against the slavery, i don t mena do not put in game, but my faction would rather be against it, and could be one of my objective to free the slaves xD, who knows i could actually hang the body of the slavers as an exemple. Wow... the evild minds of this forum are catching up to me  .

Much of this remains to be seen, as mentioned slavery is a planned feature, although utilizing slaves will undoubtedly result in enemies within some factions. Randomly generated missions involving the slaves of your own and other factions will result in prison breaks, and attempted prison breaks. Will the Dust Bandits enslave your first character, resulting in your working for them until the AI comes for one of its own, freeing you in the process? Will your own rampant slavery cause the Holy Empire to declare you a heretic and burn your outpost to the ground? Only time will tell.

As for ideas for corpse disposal, the potential utilization of corpses or bones, much of that has been discussed in the past with no real input from Chris. Personally I'd like to see a lot of options for the utilization of corpses, ranging from simply burying the fallen to the disposal of the more caustic fluids and a utilization of the meatier bits as compost... To rendering them available for more, immediate consumption by cannibals. One game you could have a reverent faction who buries the fallen of friend and foe alike, and the next you could have a faction that enslaves anyone unfortunate enough to find themselves disabled near their encampment. A third could see you donning armor decorated with human bones, consuming the flesh of the fallen, and staking out corpses to strike fear into the hearts of your foes. Who knows what the future holds?
