Moral and fear tactics [and slavery]

I just read in a post of alternative combat of how a few bandit bodies would be good to keep enemies away. I would love to see this, just a large pile or as they said crucified bandits. This would be wonderful to keep a settlement safe.
This may also be used to help raise relations with those such as the holy empire and the imperial lords. The sight of dead enemies would make them think things such as "These people are strong, perhaps we can stay here and be offered protection for a short while."
I think it'd encourage trade more often as well! Those caravans can be huge or small so I'm sure a safe looking area would attract more business!
And with the more enemies, they'd start to rot no? This would be a negative to your relations and your people's moral itself. The closer and more exposed to the decaying bandits people are, the more disgusted and possibly angrier they get. [Angry over the fact they have to see/smell it]
So it'd give a reason to replace bodies, throw them into a spare well [haha] and to keep killing to get more bodies! And now all the bandits have to be dead! You can chain them up and force them to wander around the settlement, loiter outside of the buildings as pathetic human beings and even sell them off! See? A slave system right there too! So much potential!
The slaves are a cheap labor, poorer work at researching but better at farming, mining and processing ores. Also will the wells and any kind of manual labor. Perhaps building too? And you can set some survivors as overseers to keep them on track!
A fully running, scary settlement to bandits and ninjas, parading dead bodies or live slaves, and easy labor and meatshields!
The slaves would also be good for one sided training, give them a rusty katana and set them to block, scale up your attack and if they die, oh well go find another starving bandit! The resource is renewable, the money is there to be gained and you can become your own warlord of some settlement known as death to bandits and ninja and anyone else you don't like! Heck you could sell the bodies to other settlements to help them deter attacks! More money!
