The idea is that factions should be able to pop up a disappear like the current one are the basic ones but then you can have someone rebel and suddenly new faction or a faction gets wiped out poof no more faction the rise and fall randomly

Nice, I'm in for this. As a matter of fact, this is the BEST suggestion thus far to me.

this is Clawdius's words on the matter as this topic is already discussed. (search first please)
Clawdius Talonious wrote:There have been discussions of this sort, the AI factions creating outposts for mining, growing crops, and that sort of thing. Both hired laborers and enslaved people potentially working for different factions in these outposts. There are quite a few other features that are slated to be implemented before anything of this nature gets included in the game, but ideally these sorts of outposts will have strong effects on the dynamic economy when we get one. This way you could dress a squad up in Sand Ninja uniforms and go raid and destroy one factions ore mining outfit, only to set up shop and sell the ore you process and steel you smelt to a faction that now has limited access to those materials.
It remains to be seen what Chris' plans are for a dynamic economy, but I could see the AI being capable of laying out some prefab outposts and constructing them if this is the route he chooses. It would certainly provide a lot of opportunities for slave-rescue randomly generated missions if there were a multitude of small outposts utilizing slave labor for some factions. And another random mission could be generated at some town centers where they want you to pillage and destroy the outposts of their enemies or competition for trade.

I feel like this would be a very complex thing to implement. If you look at it from the standpoint of the coding behind putting it in. You have to have just a list of random names of the other possible factions which would emerge dynamically, meaning that you then have to keep track to which ones have fallen prior. It's just not a simple thing to implement in a good way. I mean you can do it, but be prepared after a while to think "man, I've seen this name before like three times". That kind of thought makes the game seem lower quality.

This could be prevented by, say; instead of generating random faction names from a list, just prepare WHOLE TEMPLATES for possible factions beforehand, and have them energe from that list.
As a possible way to make factions even more distinct; factions could have something similar to 'Civics' from Civilization IV... say in their 'profile page'. Like their views/thoughts on economy, human rights, warfare, their piety (religion), either by whole concepts like liberal/federal humanist/pragmatist peaceful/expansionist or just on a scale of numbers. It would give more character to factions.
Oops, I went on a RP berserk again.

I think you shouldn't have that info at your fingertips I think you'd HVAE to do reconnaissance
Also I do agree random names but make them plausible like a sect of dust bandits shouldn't be call the miner faction things like that
Also more bandit factions

yes but its basically the same thing no?
A faction would still need to have their own town unless they were a nomadic type of faction.
While i think it would be nice if factions could rise n fall its alot more complicated that just having all of them in there to begin with and fighting for power.
We are going to be able to get killed right, just as we can kill. so it makes sense that you can eliminate an entire faction by killing all its members (or a % of them).
In this case it would also make sense that you can create a new faction partway into the game if you have been defeated as the AI would also be doing this.
To limit the amount of Factions in any 1 game at a time, there would be a max and min amount of AI factions. If these AI factions are springing up from the ground, then we can also since thats one of the main aspects of this game (what you can do i can do). If it was only a start option it wouldnt be the same as what the AI can do, since they can spring up when you control 90% of the map, but you cant.

It's a hell of a job for the programmer, but if they manage to pull it off... Then this game will totally be different form any other games out there. i'm not saying that this game isn't unique because this is one of the games that I have really enjoyed playing. I'm just saying that it would gain another unique selling point

Ya i personally dont see it happening because its so hard to pull off and also because the $2000 contributor reward is to create your own faction. So if factions could rise and fall you would need to have alot of preset factions to rise, this just reduces the greatness of that $2000 reward ALOT. Espcially if AI go around destroying other AI just to keep the balance, your Reward just got destroyed to keep the balance
BUT, if it is done right, Regardless of the $2000 contributor reward it would be awesome indeed and certainly show alot of gaming companies a thing or two about making a good game
