First, I just would like to say that some elite swords would be nice in the game that not every one could just make, and when I say make a legendary weapon Legendary I don't mean make it have magical damage like fire, frost, elec, holy, or shadow. What i mean is like special Stats or stats effects.
When i hear of the legend warriors and their legendary weapons the myths are stretched and unbelievable, but there is still some truth behind each story. Each story received a little fluff to make each more enjoyable. one example is King Arther, for those who don't know his swords legend was who ever pull the blade form the rocks was the rightful king of the land, and when Arther pulled this said blade form rock a crowed was around him and people believed him to be the rightful king. In this sense i would say this sword had a big buff to leadership, in a sense.
To the main point, Chris talked about having ruins to where we would have to find certain things for advanced technology; we can also use ruins to hold legendary weapons or unique metals to craft legendary weapons. Like I said before, these legendary weapons wouldn't have magical damage like fire, frost, and etc., but would have special stats like more cutting or blunt damage, faster attack speed, armor penetration, critical strike chance, increase bleeding effects, chance for an additional strike (less damage than original), and for heavy weapons would have chance to stagger or stun on hit even threw a parry. For sabers (very defensive weapons) should have a chance to counter-attack for every parry and every other class of weapons should have a unique status effect. To keep the game balanced every time a player's faction finds or crafts a legendary weapon the other main factions find a legendary weapon. The materials to craft a legendary weapon would have a drop rate or special nodes around the map and need the technology and the weapon smith skill to craft.
And also, just because a character has a high weapon skill for the legendary weapon it doesn't necessarily mean he could wield such a legendary weapon to its full extent. No one person could pick up any sword and have it fully mastered. With every battle you unlock hidden potential or master your legendary weapon. With this it balances the game. If the master of the weapon were to die you couldn't just give it to someone else to fully wield it.
I would like to know how you guys feel about this feature.
